An important note and call to action from some of the most dedicated Kansas City tax fighters . . .
Ordinances Tabled . . . Water /Sewer rates still will rise!
CFRG/MO and Friends,
Thank you Heather Hall (councilwoman,1st district) for standing up in the Business Session of the City Council meeting yesterday and challenging the two ordinances: 160165 & 160166
THE GOOD NEWS: These two ordinances (below) have been put on hold thanks to Ms Hall’s reasoning that nobody "knows what’s going on with these ordinances and more time is needed". The mayor was quick to agree as he doesn’t want tax increase talk in advance of the Earnings Tax vote.
THE BAD NEWS: YOUR WATER BILL WILL GO UP 3% AND YOUR SEWER BILL WILL GO UP A WHOPPING 13% ON MAY 1ST. THIS IS DONE AND IS IN THE NEW BUDGET... Note this increase takes effect after the Earnings Tax vote.
Unfortunately we are losing 50 police officers while we raise water and sewer rates on the poorest voters while asking them to extend the unpopular earnings tax. You can do something about all this TAX, TAX, TAX on April 5th when you vote!!

This scam has to end. Kansas City citizens just pay it. No other utility charges for easements on a monthly basis. Can't understand how it's even legal. Charging for sewer lines is a crock.
ReplyDeleteDoes the Kansas City Atheist Coalition have a position on this?
ReplyDeleteOr on anything for that matter?
If I was one of those corporate dudes coming to work in KC I'd make damn sure I don't live in KC. Anyone with an ounce of sense would have to be thinking the same.
ReplyDeleteLast I heard there was thirty percent delinquency on water bills.
ReplyDeleteHow much are delinquencies?
Audit the Water Department and vote no on E-Tax!
go dig a well if you don't like it

"But...but..I want to give you expensive things that you didn't ask for, and don't need, like ToyTrains and new airport terminals! Hidden infrastructure like water/sewer is not sexy."

3:00 FTW.
ReplyDeleteActually, a well and septic system would address the bitching.
As though anything could interrupt the din of continuing sniveling that defines this blog.
Pussies.
Are you ready for this?
ReplyDeleteSly and the last City Council turned the Water & Sewer Department over to Burns & Mac!!
ReplyDeleteExpect annual rate increases of 13% for the next 20 years!! Surprise!!
Glad someone is finally asking questions!!

ReplyDeleteMy dick is hard ......
ReplyDeleteBring it bit ch.......
ReplyDeleteActually I don't have to dig a well. KC can go fuck itself. I'm one of those dudes living and spending my money in the suburbs.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I love you man....congratulations
ReplyDeleteI was right

This is it....you told the truth.
ReplyDeleteMovie nite...!
ReplyDeleteTime to fire Schulte, Leeds, and Shively.
ReplyDeleteShut up... Luv you too asshole. What are you wearing
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell...
ReplyDeleteWTF?
ReplyDeleteUh, I thought this was about utilities...
ReplyDeleteFocus,people, E-tax....remember?
ReplyDeletethe water/sewer fund is id one of the political slush funds....that is why city officials resist a state audit. Remember the council built a soccer field complex in Swope Park in the name of economic development----out of sewer and water funds----over the neighborhood association's objection.
ReplyDeleteWhat an idiotic post, If you are going to talk taxes at least get a clue first. lol
ReplyDeleteBet Tony thinks it is smart, idiot
The E Tax is SO UNPOPULAR that 78% of voters passed it, which makes it the most popular tax ever put to ballot in KC...
ReplyDeleteWe should get rid of it then pay for all your hearts desires with federal transit grants and dedicated transit taxes, which can totally be used to pay for cops, and sewers. Ask anybody!
This is yet ANOTHER good example of how badly something can deteriorate if it isn't maintained or improved for DECADES because the folks in charge, and that would be the D-list celebrity KCMO electeds, ignore basic citizen needs and services to concentrate on grandiose glitzy projects that end up costing the taxpayers for decades.
ReplyDeleteNext up?
A new $1.2 billion airport terminal because the 40year old one is falling down.
Why won't they listen to reason and common sense?
ReplyDeleteThe money for infrastructure went for illegal wars.
ReplyDeleteIllegal wars, liberals crack me up. BTW, those illegal wars were voted on and approved by CONGRESS. Including 111 DEMOCRATS. I blame these democrats for these wars. Bush did not executive order these wars. Just say'n
ReplyDelete4:38 you rock yes they f---ing stole the money promised to the residents for sewer lines and improvements to put a f---ing soccer field in that only benefits Cerner aka Sporting KC. For the children my ass.
ReplyDeleteIf Troy/ Sly and the corruption crew would use the tax funds to take care of basic services...residents would not be so unhappy. Troy redirects basic service dollars to support "political" projects that have no real benefit to the city residents, or city revenue base.
ReplyDeleteVOTE NO ON APRIL 5TH!!! LET'S START REDOING CITY FINANCES FROM THE GROUND UP! THATS WHAT IS NEEDED TO GET THINGS STARTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION! IT CAN BE DONE!!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. I plan to vote NO.
