  1. Great footage. TKC, you should realize that this is is the benefit of people playing the earnings tax. The earnings tax funds first responders but some of your readers want to do away with that. Why?

  2. Glad to see KCFD got the situation under control quickly. Good on them.

  3. The tipsters was right about the slumlord buildings.

But that comment got me thinking that KC really doesn't know what it's getting with the new owners of the plaza.

Will it thrive? Or is the new plaza just going down in flames?

  4. The benefit of the e-tax is for the rich political 1% not the community.

  11. No one goes to the plaza anymore because of the thousands of innocent victims of stabbings who lay bleeding in the streets. The gutters run red with third blood and you constantly trip over their corpses. Just because the video show thousands of people peacefully milling about, strolling, enjoying the weather and generally enjoying a vibrant, walkable, urban neighborhood, dot be fooled! They are all paid consultants and mayors staffers. KickASS tipsters will not be silenced by lamestteam dead tree cover up kiddie corps hipster renter mensans!

  13. Great footage, was there an earthquake going on at the same time? Looks like one of those goddamn nigger videos.

  14. 6:54, nice talking point, but it's nonsense. Money is fungible. Let's assume it's true that right now, earnings tax revenues are the source for fire and police funding, and other tax revenues pay for everything else. If the earnings tax goes away, the fire and police don't become unfunded, we just switch some of the "everything else" funding to pay for fire and police. A voter may reasonably conclude that citizens do not need or even want some of the boondoggles and slush fund payoffs that are currently in the "everything else" category, and vote against the e-tax.

  15. There must be a way the Kansas City Atheist Coalition can get some publicity out of this.

  16. The fire department is known to set fires for public relations purposes. Ask the cops who had to works in the fire stations during multiple strikes in the 70s and 80s.

Hey dumbfuck, just two years ago, during a shootout in front of the Cheesecake Factory, the Mayor had to dive into the bushes to dodge bullets from black thugs. So shut the fuck up.

  18. Was there in 19752/21/16, 10:42 AM

9:49 statement is more spot on about the strike for sure in the 70's. But many owners of property as well set fires. I never saw a fire that I think a firefighter set but more than one that was for sure set and not an accident. Equipment damage was the largest one thing I saw that was done by whom ever on the dept, and was by far the one thing that really pissed me off. If you have a beef with the city deal with it, strike if that is how you feel about it, but don't try to put out of service equipment not owned by you but is owned by the taxpayers. KCFD members knew the city would rally and make mutual aid call outs for firefighters and men would respond. I supported the men in their call to be paid more but I didn't support their vandalizing, or the turning of their backs to the job they was hired to do, which is protect thy neighbors house from burning. But several KCFD members did ignore the picket line and helped incoming mutual aid firefighters a great deal. One equipment operator I met said he had guared his unit from damage and was going to protect it and operate it as needed, but would do nothing else.

  22. A lit Bear fart would produce more fire.

  23. A grease fire would point to a lapse in scheduled maintenance. The fact that the fire started during peak business hours points to possibly outside involvement as some sort of payback or retribution towards the occupier of the building.
