Show-Me Kansas City Blogger Rage Against Missouri 'Religious Protection' Legislation

Former Kansas City newsman turned blogger Bill Tammeus takes on controversial Missouri legislation that many feel targets the LGBT community.

Here's his money line:

"I frankly find essentially no difference between lunch counters refusing to serve black patrons in the 1950s and bakers or florists refusing to serve gay couples today."

  1. I agree with Bill.

In this case, religion is just your excuse to be hateful. These people shouldn't call themselves Christians, since they are actually followers of the hater, Saul, & not Jesus ben Joseph. Jesus only hated the Pharisees.

LGBT's are people, too. If you can't see that, then you are the problem.

  2. In this case we should let bakers, florists, etc. discriminate to their heart's content. There is plenty of competition in all those markets. The market will reward those who are interested in serving as many people as they can, and those who are "selective" will soon be out of business.

  4. Political correctness is destroying this country and small business owners should have the right to refuse service to whoever they want to. Let consumers decide.

  5. I think it is really strange that only white bakers, not the hundreds of latino and muslim bakers who refuse to bake cakes for gays are subjected to court battles and fines. What a weird deal, huh?

  6. There is a difference between serving someone in your place of business and delivering goods or performing services at remote locations. What if a biker group wanted a gay florist to deliver flowers to their wedding?

I have served blacks, gays, Hispanics and Muslims with no problems but I have refused to do business with a few white jerks. But I don't want to have to defend myself if I chose not to do business with a minority who happens to be a jerk.

  7. The freaks war on traditional America continues. Guys like Bill and Byron won't be happy until we're all losers like them.

  10. One summer, when I was a young man, I traveled across the American South on foot, carrying everything I needed on my back in a pack.

It wasn't unusual that as I approached a store or restaurant on a hot day, in search of a cold drink or air-conditioned lunch break, to be turned away by a posted sign on the door stating that they didn't serve my kind.

If the town was big enough to offer alternatives, I'd just go down the road to another business that would welcome me.

But, if it was really a hot scorching day, and the town only had one store, I'd conform to their rules and put my shirt and shoes on before entering their establishment.

    NO SHIRT
    NO SHOES
    NO SERVICE
    .........think about it!!

  11. More time and tax dollars wasted dealing with gay drama. Instead of passing a constitutional amendment maybe they could just have their straight sister order a cake or go down the damn street instead of trying to c ram your queer values down everyone's throat. Sheesh!

  12. Wake me when a gay couple orders a wedding cake from a Muslim Baker. This was never really about gay rights. It was all about leftists war against Christians.
