Good intentions have always proven to be the road to oblivion for the district.
Time and time again our blog community points to this scheme as the turning point for Kansas City schools that sent the district on the way to oblivion . . .

This latest effort is an attempt to scale back the district for its own good as the last few decades have seen students, parents and teachers leave en masse.

Hopefully this will drive more black to the golden ghetto and more whites will migrate back to the city and eventually rebuild and correct the KCPS.

ReplyDeleteWhen a district shrinks from 70,000 students to 14,000, it seems pretty obvious they're going to need fewer buildings.
ReplyDeleteAnd school districts are generally funded on a per pupil basis, so it's also pretty obvious that they're going to get less money.
As usual, though, this issue, like others, makes for a great opportunity for the usual suspects to fire up the usual uninformed mob to march around, yell and scream, and make demands.
And failures just keep coming.
But the same "leaders" keep doing just fine themselves.

ReplyDeleteByron, I don't disagree but you need to know that only three percent of the student population was white at the time of desegregation. You can't desegregate what you don't already have.

ReplyDeleteJust keep in mind what Arthur Benson said. He claimed that our children have the constitutional right an integrated education, not a good education. Of course, we have neither. Benson sends his daughter to private school. I don't blame him for it, but think of the thousands of students who deserve a good education and are not receiving it.
ReplyDeleteI remember a leader once say at a major media gathering , get the stupid black kids out and bring in smart whites in the district...seems like all is going according to plan. Charter schools are big business. Who cares if they really learn either. Get rid of unions. No more teacher unions. Lynch taught Them how to handle them long ago. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Get all thoughs kids at Attucks walk them up with their hands behind their backs and give them a guided tour of the new police station...program them early cause that is where they are going. Why not a real community center in the neighborhood instead of fake ones. Dollar houses =pay day loans. Too little too late. The minority isn't stupid. Black lives may not matter, but green sure does. They'll figure it out sooner than later.
