Kansas City Crime Caucus Chat

Local discussion of "Our Divided City" from stakeholders and Kansas City leaders . . .

"KCPT’s Kansas City Week in Review host Nick Haines picks up on the provocative questions raised in the documentary Our Divided City and pushes for solutions. Filmed at Paseo Academy on January 19, The Crime Caucus features a citizen summit on crime including a nine-member panel of faith, political and law enforcement leaders."

Credit where it's due . . . These are all dedicated people who have focused their careers and lives for the betterment of the community . . .

But public conversation has a way of limiting dialogue about what people really think when it comes to crime.

Yes, there will always be racist trolls but over the past few days we've hosted quite a few insightful comments about crime and the city's uses of financial resources because the only color that really matters is green.

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. A good production. Haines is a very good commentator and asks pointed questions.
A problem with deep roots and one with no apparent easy answers.

  2. Condense the bullshit and lies told by organizations all over the United States in an effort (Laughing up their sleeves.) to stop the tsunami of black crime and compare it to the unvarnished, if unpleasant truth that "Racist Trolls" tell.

The reality is, that to this point, "Racist Trolls" are light years more accurate and truthful when speaking of that same criminality. While the language is inappropriate, the factual content is categorically correct.

I am still dead in a Black On White Hate Crime that no one remembers.

  3. Racist Trolls?

A black kid asks his mother, "Mama what's Socialism and what is Racism?"
"Well son, Socialism is when white folks work every day so we can get all our benefits, you knows like free cell phones for each family member, rent subsidy, food stamps, EMC, free healthcare, a Yearly IRS bonus check for having so many kids, an extra monthly check for each kid from Social Security because they all have a vague mental defect, utility subsidy, free computers and Internet connection, free food, free clothing, free gifts at Christmas, & on & on, …for never ending generations of the same family. That's Socialism."

"But mama, don't the white people get mad about that?"

"Sure they do son, that's called Racism!"

  4. With all the programs like Aim4Peace, commissions, committees, community organizers, activists, endless meetings, hand-wringing do-gooders, public tv investigations, and all the rest, it's hard to believe there's anyone left in all of KCMO except the criminals who aren't making believe they're addressing the real issues that regularly result in KCMO having one-third the number of homicides annually as New York City, with a population 16 times the size.
Feral, nihilistic, destructive people with no respect for anything, including human life.
So let's have another forum about Emmitt Till, racism, and white privilege.
Many tens of millions of taxpayers' dollars disappear every year down the "anti-crime" hole.
    And it never changes.

This narrative that's being presented is false. We can pretend that the issue is a lack of grocery stores when the truth is there is a lack of any economic activity at all in the Third and Fifth Districts. Both the Police and Politicians in that area ignore the fact that they use their politics against the very people they suggest they want to help. Canady's philosophy on life it "to be nice-sty" to people. Quinton is an imposter altogether and the remaining people on the panel are clueless. Analysing facts is one thing. Analyzing relevant facts is altogether something different. The assumption that everwhere Kansas City is poverty stricken and gang-laced is an afront on the people and neighborhoods that are making a difference. 8:06 understands the dynamic that's on display. It never changes and it hasn't changed.

  6. Lots of programs, lots of vigils, lots of committees...none of which can solve a problem that is predominately cultural.

  7. It's all about that black dysfunctional, pathological and self-destructive culture that spawns violence and criminality. If this is not addressed then nothing will ever change. The blame game will just continue with the same ineffective outcome.

  8. The empire is rotted out from the center

  9. The problem isn't the black culture, its the American Culture. You assholes don't realize what part you play in this.

  12. Thanks to everyone that braved the ice and snow to come to our HOA meeting concerning the Gillham Park Spray Fountain. We would never EVER ,try to keep you uninformed.

We understand that many of you feel that you have been kept out of the process . Please accept our heartfelt sincere apologies.
We understand that many of you are upset about the BBC commentary on our neighborhood, and the fact the we are now the focus of "Our Divided City" and one of the greatest examples of a segregated neighborhood.
We cannot help how others perceive our beautiful historic neighborhood ,surrounded by blight.
We like to perceive ourselves as a gleaming "Ivory Tower " of hope. We are here to lead Midtown to back to its glorious historic past. We are working diligently to clean up Armour . Please do not refer to us as racist, if anything we are elitists. You can live here as long as you make atleast 6 figures ,its not our fault that you bought a house 35 years agoand cant afford to stay....perhaps Woodland will suit your limited income. We really do care .
    Sincerely,
    The whitest HOA in Midtown
