"You may have already heard this but if not . . . Georgia Sanders is the new Legislative Aide for Garry Baker"
From the outset, questions of family connections have confronted newly appointed Legislator Garry Baker.
A "girl power" advocate took a moment to consider the connections of this office . . .
"Chairwoman Crystal Williams, D-Kansas City. She pointed out that Baker's wife, Karen, is the aide to Legislator Tony Miller, D-Lee's Summit.
“It gives me a little pause,” Williams said.
Baker said that won't affect his votes in the Legislature. Williams said the public might perceive a conflict.
Now, while we hear that Legislator Baker and Georgia's dad were old school buddies . . . There is no current conflict in talk of this new gig BUT I would imagine that Ms. Sanders might engage of a bit of shop talk with her hubby over dinner from time to time and after his work with a power player Eastern Jack law firm.
Remember that this isn't official yet but we do notice that Legislator's web page on the County's nice new site has been updated with far less info than his colleagues who all list their aides.
Either way, this is important because leaving the political game in JaxCo is harder than it looks.
Still, other members of this blog community wish the lady the best in her career move even if they're a bit mum on word of this job notice because this is the kind of inside baseball that most locals would rather not know about their local government.
"His wife is a gem. Hope the best for her, and whomever she works for will be lucky to have her."
This is true and it's Sunday so we hope all of our blog community will wish the best for this power player fam who might be still VERY MUCH connected to the Courthouse but now are just working stiffs like so many other locals.

I thought Sanders was quitting his job for more family time, oh I get aides job are just a political hack who does not work anyway. It's amazing how fast good government turns into patronage.

ReplyDeleteAgree with that. But I will say that Mike and Georgia work VERY hard. They were not handed success. They have earned it.
I agree with the one comment TKC posted, she is very qualified and Mike is too. The lesson to readers SHOULD be: Work hard and maybe good things might come.
Gotta keep that family health insurance rolling in the Sanders household.
