The good news first . . .
SHERWOOD SMITH LEADS THE VOTES FROM THE JAXCO DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE TO EARN THE 1ST DISTRICT AT-LARGE SEAT!!!
A few quick insights about the nominees . . .
Name recognition of Frank White and a Royals playoff run are the only reason he wasn't elected to the position in his first attempt. A veteran Fire Fighter and labor advocate, Sherwood Smith has more experience, connections and work dedicated to this office than any other candidate.
Angela Malone- She's a Democratic Party volunteer and part of the local "girl power" movement. More than that . . . She seems to be aligned with Legislator Crystal Williams.
Gary Baker - He finished a distant last in the voting and while he has a good resume, he doesn't have the political pull to win the office.
Now, we hear that deals are already in the works to take this office and a lot of other strange negotiations took place behind the scenes of this vote . . . We'll have more for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!
Like him or not, Sherwood has done some solid work for 1st responders in Jackson County. The other two are just politicians.

Local 42 Should not be voting on its own salaries in the prosecutor's office. So Sherwood should be disqualified. Malone offers the new voice that we need on the legislature!
