TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! KANSAS CITY EAST PATROL DEBUT HIGH HOPES RUINED BY ENSUING SPATE OF NEARBY HOMICIDES!!!

With 9 murders so far this week . . . Kansas City finishes the year on a deadly and tragic note.
Worse still . . .
IT SEEMS THAT PROMISES THAT EAST PATROL WOULD REDUCE CRIME AND SPARK ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT HAVE BEEN RUINED BY THE LATEST SPATE OF DEADLY VIOLENCE!!!
Here's what we're working on . . .
Homicides within a 2-5 mile radius of the new East Patrol station are spiking along with the murder rate throughout KCMO.
We'll have more on this later . . . But the latest killing on Prospect in the shadow of the new station inspired this conversation . . .
For now . . . While KCMO focuses on tax breaks for the Crossroads and Downtown . . . There's very little new development around the newly completed police station.
What's worse . . .

Harsh feelings persist from some members of the community who recount the eminent domain used to seize some property now held by KCMO.
One community stakeholder sent this message our way . . .
"Police facilities do not reduce crime on their own. Crime often worsens in urban areas when they are nearby. If this week is any indication, the inner city crime rate won't improve with the new East Patrol."
Like it or not, less than a month after the grand opening of the facility that was $20 MILLION over budget . . . There is no sign of crime reduction or economic development in the surrounding area despite the $90 MILLION+ investment from City Hall.
Developing . . .
Crime green zone in KC?
ReplyDeleteTKC, what you need to also note is that the Northland is need of new police facilities. I don't think there needs to be the same talk about development or homicide reduction but KC residents should know that in the Northland there is a definite reduction in services despite the fact that our neighborhoods are responsible for an increasing share of KC's tax base revenue.
ReplyDeleteBut the building looks so purty!
ReplyDeleteThere is an old saying that the best place for criminals to live is near or right across the street from a Police Station.
ReplyDeleteIt has been shown in every credible study for the past 40 years that hiring more officers does not reduce violent crime even though politicians love to blow and go. It will guarantee more bureaucracy. What KC needs are officers in the high crime areas, frequent patrolling and citizen contact. That is going to require a change of culture and new leadership from outside KC. Every bureaucrat in KC wants new facilities and gear to make less work for them. that is the nature of the bureaucrat. What is needed are realistic benchmarks of productivity. Counting traffic tickets and fine money at the end of the month and creating unofficial quotas is no way to administer justice when your murder solved rate is under 50 percent. KCPD and the city deserves new leadership with a new perspective. Continuing to build on the same old ideas that never worked the first time around is nothing new.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the big surprise? Sly and the council continue to piss on us and tell us it's only raining.
ReplyDeleteShow one other police station in KCMO that has spurred the promised economic development. None. It's pure bullshit.
Only more take home cars will solve the problem.
ReplyDeleteAcknowledging that I am adding one to the stupid TKC hit count, you really are struggling these days to generate any action. Comments are down, and the page hits are dropping from your 4500 average.
ReplyDeleteYou are on the same road traveled as Sears and Radio Shack.
There is nothing to this post outside of regurgitated hyperbole with a dose of Tony's lame commentary thrown in to spark comments from the anonymous haters now owning this blog.
Well, those guys and the dumb ass "why are you here then" dip shit.
I'm taking the under on 20 posts from 6 guys on this one.
Looking forward to the Chiefs bashing this afternoon.
YAWN.
Abhorant comments that are sure to follow aside, the spike in (mostly eastside) murders should come as no surprise and are indicitive of the problems many on here rant about using as rascist language as possible.
ReplyDeleteWhile a minority in population, blacks commit the vast majority of violent crimes, and a significant majority of non-violent crime. It's easy to point to the surface issues of poverty and violent culture, but under these issues lies the real culprit, the utter collapse of the black family unit. Over 3/4 of black children are born out of wedlock, and over 1/2 reside in single parent homes. Until the 60's when these trends began, black crime was relatively on par with white crime. The collapse of black families, much of which can be attributed to the welfare state and it's policies which encourage this collapse, are the reason why the much of the surface issues of poverty and violent culture exist today.
...and at this point, only the black population can reverse this trend. There is no amount of money that can be thrown at this problem, no number of after hours programs, no quantity of anti-violence programs living off the government teat that can solve it. Until the black community demands change of itself and discontinues the glorification of broken black families, anything else done is simply an ineffective band-aid.
ReplyDeleteThe news spinners will suggest that the continuous gifting of land in the area to Modest Miles for his misguided, self-serving religious endeavors is economic development. Consider that the activity is done under the guise of various non-profit entities, which can only properly classify those activities as civic development, not economic. We know that civic developments enrich only civic developer but is often accompanied by a narritive that it's done for the good of the people. Naturally the surrounding community will digest these types of declarations and will likely go unverified, unchallenged.
ReplyDeletethe pigs used eminent domain to tear down perfectly good crack houses,
ReplyDeleteWhite Privilege!!!!
That's what media and poverty pimps want you to believe, 11:35. Like magic, it worked. Great job stepping in the sticky glue trap! I'll throw the contents away after I bash the head in first.
DeleteThe black abort well over a third of their own pregnancies.
ReplyDeleteThey shoot each other all over the country.
They seer at education, and ruin their job prospects for life by getting felonies.
They are a truly stupid group.
Give em all Darwin Awards.
Development and politics aside, the location of the police station will not reduce crime in that area. This is not like a fire station where they wait for calls at the station. The officers are away from the station for the vast majority of their shift and are in other areas of the division.
ReplyDeleteBut people are flocking back from the suburbs to live in the urban core in droves!
ReplyDeleteNo they aren't.
ReplyDeleteKilla City is a shit hole. Face reality. Anywhere you have a large collection of porch monkeys you have a shit hole.
ReplyDeleteWhat don't you morons understand about niggers ?
The location of this center was never intended to deter crime in this area. It was purely a political deal made with between Troy, Rev. Miles and some of the members of Freedom Inc. Take a look at the money trail on this project and the 5 million dollar church community center (city funded) being built across the street. Part of the Corruption Machine of City Hall/EDC at work hiding the names of local politicos being paid for doing little to nothing.
ReplyDeleteBlack Swan Productions is pleased to report that financing has been secured for their Aloha Christmas special. Actors and vendors participating in the candle lighting secret service will receive final scripts and edits upon arrival on set. Worldwide ticket sales are expected to set records despite Economist's gloomy forecast.
ReplyDeleteBlack people ruined it, just like everything else they touch.
ReplyDeleteA new building is not going to stop crime. LOL.
ReplyDeleteWe should easily move up to at least the #7 or #6 most dangerous city in America rankings. Maybe even #5.
ReplyDeleteSunday Special?
ReplyDeleteLMAO.
Yawn is right.
Another Troy Schulte turd.
ReplyDeleteBut my gay councilman reed baby promised me that this would be a good deal. You mean he lied to me? That's preposterous, he's such a good dancer. A man with moves like that just can't be wrong.
ReplyDeleteHe's like a little Magic Mike, too damn smooth to be questioned.
That is not a good thing. Be nice for the Christmas and don't be a scum bag or krampus will smack you down.
ReplyDeleteWith all the property held in land trust , many will never know why this had to be the location.
ReplyDeleteArmour and Troost will be the next to be mowed down in the name of progress.
This city has a tainted history withbits arrogant use of Eminent Domain.
I suppose someone made big money off the property surrounding the Police Center , just an investment group will make money off Armour.
Ollie Gates didn't make his fortune from BBQ, he made ot from savvy investments off Troost ,Paseo and Cleaver blvd.
Keep your eyes on the Mac proposal at both ends of Armour. Cha ching cha ching
