MUST SEE!!! KANSAS CITY REMEMBERS TRAGIC EXPLOSION THAT KILLED SIX FIREFIGHTERS AND LED TO WRONGFUL CONVICTION IN THE NAME OF CLOSURE!!!

In one of the darkest and shameful episodes in the history of Kansas City, valiant firefighters were killed by an explosion as media, union leaders and a corrupt justice system wrongly convicted a gang of po'folk based on little more than flimsy jailhouse snitch testimony.
You decide who is right or wrong as the legacy of locals crazed in the name of a pop psychology "closure" conviction created one of the greatest Midwestern miscarriages of justice in modern memory that stills shames and creates distrust of authorities in this community . . .
The clips:
"A look at the chain of events leading up to and immediately following the November 29, 1988, blast that killed six KCMO firefighters and changed the way fire departments around the country conduct training."
U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver discusses the 1988 explosion that killed six firefighters and the convictions that followed years later. Cleaver was Mayor pro tem of Kansas City when the explosions happened.
Former publisher of the "Kansas City New Times," Pat O'Connor believes that the five individuals who were convicted of setting fires leading to an explosion that killed six firefighters in 1988 were wrongly convicted.
Developing . . .
Welcome to flyover country. Where greatest miscarriages of justice in modern memory rarely get noticed.

DeleteEveryone says they were wrongly convicted, but there's no new evidence, suspects, or appeals. I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteI knew Frank and Bryan Sheppard growing up in Ruskin in South Kansas City. Frank was from Grandview. I knew Darlene in passing and John Driver, who is a big piece of shit.
ReplyDeleteThere is really good evidence, that they are innocent. frank and Bryan were small time thieves and drug addicts. Not really bad folks though. What can I tell ya?
Here is a pretty good article.

As much as I despise the K. C. Star, they should get another Pulitzer for their series on this disaster. It is dead on the money.
I also went to school and was and am friends with John O"Connor. he is the best criminal lawyer in the city and he told me, he really believed Organized Labor was the cause, not Frank and Bryan.
The Star series is lengthy, but well worth the time. Again, it is one of the best series, if not THE best reporting the K.C. Star has ever done.
One more thing. Frank was a pretty tough guy, but if you read the many comments about him, you would think he was Mike Tyson. He would scrap and was dangerous, but not THAT fuckin tough. Jesus. Your standard, garden variety high school tough guy who got into brawls, that is all.
ReplyDeleteAll theories about their innocence but no new evidence. Hey, I wasn't at the trial so I don't know what played out. From an outsider's perspective, though, it just sounds ridiculous that they are innocent. Someone enlighten me.
ReplyDeleteChuck sure is friends with a lot of crooks. But let a black man do something and he is all over it. Chuck, how about you just staying over at KCC, where the thugs, union thugs lover and riff raff hang out. We like TKC as it is and don't want the likes of you trashing it with your jail house friends talk.
ReplyDeleteChuck is the only intelligent comment here, he explains it perfectly and provides a link for more research. Methinks the WILDMAN is trying to win readers one at time during down time at the car dealership. Sad.
ReplyDeleteAs for this case, all of KC knows it's bullshit. Even the fire fighters are ashamed of it.
Another thorough investigation Mr. Watson.
ReplyDelete10:31 when you grow up in Ruskin you know a lot of criminals because you grew up around them. Now I don't know Chuck but he often backs his statements up with facts and links to facts. Acknowledging the massive amounts of crime black people commit doesn't make you racist, people like you are the ones with their heads up their ass. Look how rarely a crime committed by a white person graces this site. The difference between white and black people (well, one of thousands) is well hate all criminals regardless of color. I want Frazier Cross dead. I also want the black kid who was shot while robbing the gun store dead too. You know the guy I'm talking about, he's claiming self-defense (ha!) now. And what was the monkeys uncle saying on the news yesterday outside of the courthouse? He says it was self-defense too. Only black people think that way. Denying the reality of black violent behavior doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.
ReplyDelete10:31 when you are the Jew Boy banker of Ruskin in high school (chuckles) you tend to know some thugs.
ReplyDeleteNow Chuckles is good entertainment. He makes valid points and back up his rants with facts. He will also suck ass on Tony, Hearne, or any other ass that you can slip a dime between cheeks. Yep ol Chuckles is a ass sucking fool, but he makes sense from time to time even if he is the Ruskin Hebrew version of Bernie Madoff.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous coward.
Wrongful conviction = politically motivated conviction = fabrication of facts and circumstances
ReplyDeleteCan't believe that happened in Kansas City. Everybody here is so trustworthy and all.
