Kansas City Westport Peachwave Kaput???

Social media word of another merchant bailing out of an embattled Westport party district . . .

"Well, say goodbye to Peachwave in Westport. They don't appear to be admitting their permanent closure online (surprise!), but I think "taking the sign down" is a pretty good indicator."

Sadly, this location has always had trouble, they couldn't even maintain a Starbucks and most of the drunks and party district denizens make life a living Hell for any clerk unlucky enough to take on a job at the place.

Developing . . .

  1. Starbucks moved so they could have a drive through. Not all of these self serve frozen yogurt places can survive. Not because they are self serve but because the product isn't that great.

  2. A neighborhood where uncouth young people go to get drunk and throw up is not anybody's idea of an entertainment district. Just sayin.

  5. ^^^^ So true. If the choo choo expansion had been approved Peachwave would have to have added ten stories to their building to accommodate all the customers.

  6. what were they thinking trying to open so close to Murray's, but the culprit was the the new soft serve at wesport and SW traffic way .
Businesses should think about "walkability " ,but more important " parkability " . No one is going to park and walk several blocks for Ice Cream.

  10. It had nothing to do with Westport's reputation or current struggles, no more so than Starbuck's departure which was necessitated by the need for a drive thru and competition in one are of the City where local flavor is preferred. It boiled down to two things:

    1. The rent is REALLY high on that space. The visibility is great, but you have to have "knock it out of the park" revenues to afford to operate there. What do you know, yet another ice cream shop located close to Murray's (again, in an area that favors local ventures) didn't hit a home run.

    2. The building is difficult to operate in. I've done building evaluations on that entire block, and the buildings are old and in questionable condition, storage is horrible in basements that are horror-movie level bad, and daily logistics (inventory delivery, employee and customer parking, etc.) are made difficult by the configuration of buildings and the nature of the district.

  11. Too bad because the niggers stayed away from that place since they're mostly lactose intolerant and most of them know it except for this nigger I saw on the bus once. He drank a half gallon of milk and then his bowels started moving, and there was diarrhea just fountaining out of his pants (which were around his thighs anyway). it got on the floor.and started running everywhere and since it was nigger diarrhea it smelled about 600 times worse.

    Anyway, too bad.
