Interesting talk tonight on this Kansas City GOLD STANDARD of political discourse.
Here's the description:
"Mike Shanin interviews Kansas Legislator Scott Schwab about his perspective on Brownback policies and the frequent criticism they receive. Then Mary O'Halloran, Steve Rose, Pat McInerney and Steve Mirakian discuss the results of a Docking Institute poll about voter satisfaction in Kansas, the disappointing test scores for KCMO schools and the debate over a public vote for the downtown hotel."
The hotel talk was the most important and it seems there is gaining momentum to change the charter process in order to exclude more voters and operate by dictate of the Greater KC Chamber of Commerce.
Take a look:
You decide . . .
Hopefully, we'll have more BREAKING/EXCLUSIVE NEWS, discussion, debate, discourse our share of hateration & all kinds of good stuff for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!
Corporate governance runs KC.
ReplyDeleteIt has been that way since Mayor Kay Barnes.
It almost makes you miss the funk.
Except that his wife was cray.
This PUBLIC TV program should really make all these consultants and lawyers reveal who is paying them otherwise it's just the happy time sponsor hour by way of the highest bidder.
ReplyDeleteWELCOME TO SCHTUPPKUS, that weekly nosh for thought fight over the news of the day and the trends of the time.
ReplyDeleteIn this week's episode, KCPT's SCHTUPPKUS producers practice KCPS math and proclaim 3 versus 1 = Equality
If their political tactics weren't so OBVIOUSLY PATHETIC and BLATANT, it might be amusing.
But first, host Mike Shanin ACTUALLY has a CONSERVATIVE member of the KS legislature as his interview guest. Folks, I guess it's like Halley's Comet making another appearance after 75 years absence!
Nice to see Scott Schwab of Olathe, and hear his informative comments. Kudos to Mr. Shanin for playing fair host, and let's hope many more like-minded citizens have an opportunity to voice their important viewpoints.
PANEL:
Steve Rose--the well-to-do Liberal JoCo resident who writes hit pieces for The Falling Star, and can be seen taking his turn driving the anti-Brownback bandwagon for the Star Editorial Board.
Patrick McInerney--such a disappointment! Mr. McInerney, a former U.S. Assistant Attorney, reminds me of the obviously intelligent and personable friend from law school who winds up working as the consigliere for a crime family. Interesting, that before he turned to the dark side, he had a full head of hair. Liberal politics and married to a former local TV newsie.
Mary O'Halloran--LIBERAL in all capital letters! What she does best is lobby on behalf of children and the disadvantaged. What she does worst is ingratiate herself to the detriment of others. Mary admitted on Ruckus that she was selected as Midwest Region administrator for the Department of Energy based upon her gender. Ms. O'Halloran is a hyper-partisan player for the Democrats.
Steve Mirakian--the lone Conservative (thinking person) who saved this panel from an immediate porcelain bowl flush. Mr. Mirakian, now an attorney, began his career as a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy-Westpoint, with an engineering degree. That background makes perfect sense after you've heard Steve speak intelligently, logically, and while providing the legal framework for the issue being discussed. He consistently brings the factual data to the table.
KCPT's Ruckus producers remain ROASTING on the spit, well past the point of good taste.
was that supposed to be funny? niggers ain't funny. maybe we should talk about ridding our society of them.
ReplyDelete10:45 wins Thursday night.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that none of the participants think the initiative process is a good idea although Steve Mirakian did allow as to how since the law is allowed in charter it should be honored until it can be changed.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the old joke, "The peasants are revolting." To which the French aristocracy responded, "Oh, don't you know it."
"let them eat cake."
ReplyDeleteAnother week of Tony cut and paste to a show he will never be invited to, with a couple of sentences worth of work, and opportunity for the same dozen "Insiders" criticizing their efforts.
ReplyDeleteSmart people would come to the reality, that after 3 or 4 times, that no one cares.
Criticism of other's efforts by anonymous denizens that are not happy with anything on TKC.
Priceless.

Now, that's priceless!
McInerney seems like a tool and a bully. He must get along great with Sly.
