Once again the promises of toy train advocates are proven to be nothing but lies and cruel joke on locals foolish enough to believe that this project is anything more than a boondoggle in the making.
Today's example:
KC Biz Journal: Eating crow? New hiccup delays first KC streetcar delivery
Deets:
"Donna Mandelbaum, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Streetcar Authority Inc., said there was no chance the first streetcar vehicle's arrival will be delayed. On Tuesday, the spokeswoman revealed that a last-minute fix was needed that would likely delay the delivery until at least next week."
You decide . . .
Do not gloat, it's unbecoming, even people who agree with you will be off-put. Instead, just point out the facts.
ReplyDeleteA one-week delay is no big deal. I can't wait to see how underwhelming the final product will be.
ReplyDeleteRE: "Eating crow? New hiccup delays first KC streetcar delivery"
ReplyDeleteStreetcar? I'll eat that ToyTrain with some fava beans and a nice Chianti!!
.......Dr. Cannibalize "K.C." Budget
No problem Tony. We'll just find a few bureaucrats that need a vacation and send them on another fact finding choo choo trip.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I am shocked, shocked I tell you that the toy train is off schedule and over budget. Who would have thought????
ReplyDeleteSo this chick is taking over the megaphone for the proven liar and fraud David Johnson?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the big deal? The streetcar is already at break even. Why risk taking a loss by putting it into service?
ReplyDeleteSo what? Whenever they finally get it running, it's not gonna take you anywhere you want to go. Leave downtown, jump on a little choo-choo to Westport. Get drunk, then ride the choo-choo back to the office. Who the fuck actually does that? Lotta people getting drunk in Westport, but they sure don't look like people with downtown corporate jobs.
ReplyDeleteGod Damn, use of the term TOY TRAIN, sure is assisting to run up the comments on the rail. With mine you are up to 8.
ReplyDeleteTKC, a dinosaur looking for the tar pits.
^Evidently he found one, since you're always here.
ReplyDeleteThat delay is nothing. Houston ordered out of the same factory and their trains came 18 months late.
ReplyDeleteAmtrak has another order from it and theirs is two years late.
So the vehicle delay says NOTHING about the project management out of KC.
MAYBE we should have ordered from somewhere else, but the situation wouldn't be different. Every rail system is ordering massive number of vehicles and causing massive delay. A Chinese company is building an entire factory in Mass specially for a Boston order. That's right, Boston found it was better to wait on an entire new factory than pick anyone else. That's how hard it is to get rail vehicles in the US.
Also, if you want to see the vehicles, look at Houston. They run a variant of the same train. NO ONE will confuse them with busses. They're so much better to ride. More space, quicker to get on and off, super nice ride.
As far as the budget, guess what, it doesn't matter if it is. Remember, it's a CM@risk project. So there's a maximum overage the city can possibly pay and past that the construction company covers the rest. So doom and gloom of going way over isn't going to happen. You can say it all you want, the city was being fiscally smart with that contract type. Last I heard it was coming in under budget but that has been a while.
I estimate the train will be way more successful than the predictions.
Will someone please just fire Troy Schulte and Sherri McIntyre.
ReplyDeleteI estimate the train will be way more successful than the predictions.
ReplyDeleteLMAO! Yah, about as successful as the sub prime real estate boom in the early to mid 2000's.
3:43: MAYBE there should have been an actual vote on this project.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a friggen sham. This "toy train" is turning into one of the biggest boondogles since the P&L District. Thanks a lot Sly!
ReplyDelete80% of you scrubs called Toronto the winner in the ALCS.
ReplyDeleteAnd how is Joey Bays doing in the WS?
