TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! PETITION AGAINST CROSSROADS SUBSIDY OVER KANSAS CITY SCHOOLS EARNS MORE SUPPORT!!!

Locals are seeing ongoing economic disparity with taxpayer dollars endorsed again by Mayor Sly James and the new city council amid and upcoming question of more tax breaks for a millionaire in the Crossroads by Mayor and Council.
To wit . . .
AN ONLINE PETITION AGAINST KANSAS CITY TAXPAYER SUBSIDY OF A CONTROVERSIAL CROSSROADS PROJECT IS GAINING MOMENTUM!!!
Take a look and you decide:
Stop using KCPS tax revenues to subsidize development in non-blighted areas of KCMO.
Statement:
"On Thursday, October 22nd, the City Council of Kansas City will vote on whether or not taxes intended for public schools should be used to finance the development of 1640 Baltimore in the West Crossroads area (see above illustration).
"As students, parents, teachers and community members of the Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS), we wish to inform the City Council that it is NOT okay to continue to subsidize development in non-blighted areas such as the Plaza, the Crossroads and Downtown at the expense of our students.
"As voters, taxpayers and residents, we deserve for our voices to be heard as loud and clear as those who are paid to lobby City Hall. We deserve representatives with the courage to listen to the people they were elected to represent and to act in a manner that balances the needs of all Kansas City citizens."

Kansas City is for sale to the highest bidder. Too bad the new council didn't do much to stop this trend that Sly has restarted.

'We didn't get a KC Star again today. Time to start calling/e-mailing. (Someone delivered our paper just now. Calling and e-mailing seems to work.)"
Yes the previous council apparently are still intellectual giants even in private life.
Robbing and screwing over taxpayers is so easy here in CKMO I can understand why Sly and his contributors are always laughing and smiling.
ReplyDeleteActually, @3:12pm, the really saddest part of all this is that these folks DON'T sell to the highest bidder.
ReplyDeleteThey give tax money away to anybody with a pulse.
Maybe they still hope that, if they don't work to provide public safety and decent streets, the developers and attorneys will somehow do it for them.
Hasn't worked out too well for the last 30 years or so, though.
When and how did city government become amateur real estate development?
Don't forget the modern supersonic toy train ® © ™ overhead wires are powering up.

KCPS's protest is all show. The Crossroads deal is small potatoes compared to the backroom deals the district has cut with Berkebile (the "B" in BNIM). KCPS has sold ts most PROMINENT school buildings to BERKEBILE. Here's the most recent:
1) Westport Middle School appraised at $6.9 Million -- KCPS sold to one of Berkebile's several LLCs for just $750,000!!! The ONLY thing Berkebile has done there is get the property tax assessment reduced some 60% by the Board of Equalization. KCPS didn't protest and Berkebile hasn't paid a dime in taxes on the property because the district let him close 3 months after the purchase, in January 2014, in order to avoid 2014 property taxes and the Levy, too!! Loss in taxes for just 2014 (after the devaluation) -- over $300,000
2) Westport High School appraised at $7.9 million -- sold to another of Berkebile's LLCs for a mere $1.2 million!! The paperwork is signed, but no closing planned until after January 1. Certain "instrumental" folks* at KCPS like to help Bobby "B" skip out on paying a full year of property taxes.
That's over 13 acres with 2 major improvements in Midtown for just $2 million!!!!
* Berkebile's biggest supporter was KCPS board member Gunnar Hand -- whose wife, Ashley Hand worked in the Mayor's office and who blatantly lobbied home associations on behalf of Berkebile's efforts to buy Westport High. Gunnar was hired by Berkebile in June of 2012 -- very convenient when the board decided to "invite" Berkebile to bid against Foutch Bros for Westport High School in summer of 2014.
TKC, you should know. Sly is for sale to the highest bidder.
ReplyDeleteKind of hard to get behind this one. As if KCPS would make such better use of the money? If we're gonna flush it away, at least we can have a pretty building to look at.
ReplyDeletebad news all around here, you team lost and your city is in the shitter. Schools and crossroads. I hear Des Moines is nice.
ReplyDelete@4:13 wins the thread.
ReplyDeleteFuck Crossroads. They got a fucking Toy Train and the ugly looking bitch that makes little boys underwear. What the fuck else do they need ?
ReplyDeleteNobody on the council has the guts not to rubberstamp all the bad things they see... Pat them on their heads like dogs. They will get a treat once they learn to obey. For gawd's sake putting down some training pads.
ReplyDeleteSo let me get this scam right. KCPS hands over money to the city while raising property taxes to support schools? Is that what these crooked bastards are doing?
ReplyDeleteJust a reminder...
ReplyDeleteKCPS REPRESENTATIVE TO THE TIF COMMISSION KEVIN MASTERS VOTED IN FAVOR OF GIVING BNIM THE TAX SUBSIDY.
Al Tunnis, Acting Interim Supt. told him to approve it -- so did Airick West. Now, that the public is angry Al's come out against it
AND
Airick is NOW telling folks "(Shirley)Helzberg needs to be punished!"
They're all lunatics!
KCPS REPRESENTATIVE TO THE TIF COMMISSION KEVIN MASTERS VOTED IN FAVOR OF GIVING BNIM THE TAX SUBSIDY.
ReplyDeleteWhy would KCPS hire a failed police officer to work for them in this capacity? Ass kissing is biting them in the butt. This isn't the first time he's fucked up.
Lets get real people. Quentin Lucas is a talented guy, but naive. One not need look too far to find out this deal is really about. How about checking out who sponsored the ordinance. Katherine Shields is back baby.....in all her glory and gutter politics. Take a look at her most recent financial disclosure. Who contributed money to her less than 30 days before the PZED committee vote? Jerry Riffel, attorney for Billionaire Helzberg, Lathrop & Gage, the lawfirm where the attorney for Billionaire Helzberg works, and Billionaire Helzberg. Really Katherine? Even for you this is pretty blatant.
ReplyDeleteThe Billionaire proposes to spend approximately $300 per square foot on renovating this building. The average per square foot amount to spend on renovation on an office building in Kansas City? About $130. To build from the ground up? About $280. The rent the Billionaire is charging these high brow and expensive architects? $26 per square foot. The Billionaire's lawyer testified that $26 is more than the rent should be in downtown Kansas City. But, even at that, the Billionaire claims she can't make any money on the deal unless KCPS children subsidize the development and her tenant.
Why is the cost to renovate so expensive? Why is the tenant willing to pay so much? Well this building, when completed will have a tiny or non-existent environmental footprint. GREAT. While this building will be sleek and modern, with zero wasted water and energy, the most up to date and environmentally conscious heating and cooling, KCPS students in some schools have no air conditioning, and in other schools with air conditioning it is the kind that makes a lot of noise, uses lots of energy and is sticking out of the window. But, the Billionaire and her tenant see all kinds of accolades in their future. LEED Platinum certification, and more. WOW. But while they wine and dine and pick up their awards KCPS children go home to dark homes, in poor neighborhoods, with burned out buildings out numbering the occupied homes. Oh well, at least the Crossroads gets another great building, another step out of that terrible economic quagmire it has been in the past year or two. LOL.
Fuck Crossroads and the trannys that inhabit the area.
