TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! OPPONENTS OF CROSSROADS BNIM TIF PLAN PETITION TO BLOCK CONTROVERSIAL KANSAS CITY MILLIONAIRE TAX BREAK!!!

The debate over corporate welfare and Kansas City priorities is headed toward a showdown following a controversial vote by the City Council on behalf of big money interests.
Here's some of the background . . .
"The Kansas City Council voted 9-1 Thursday to give final approval to a tax increment financing plan to support redevelopment of a vacant building in the Crossroads Arts District slated to become architecture firm BNIM’s new headquarters."
Remember that proponents of Kansas City schools and infrastructure opposed this deal vehemently and launched an online campaign to encourage opposition to the big money deal.
Now . . .
CHECK KANSAS CITY OPPONENTS OF THIS TRAGIC CORPORATE WELFARE TIF PROMISING ANOTHER CHALLENGE TO THE MAYOR & COUNCIL!!!
Here's the word from organizers . . .
"We are going to file a petition to bring this resolution to a vote of the PEOPLE who elect the City Council."
Once again this presses the Mayor and Council to consider changing the charter and requiring a greater threshold to protect them against citizen initiative petitions . . . What most forget to mention in this discussion is that petition requirements are so low because of abysmal voter turnout thanks to Mayor Sly's supporters rigging the election and discouraging all viable contenders from running. To be fair, the vast majority of the local political scene is comprised of cowards and corrupt lawyers who gladly accepted the legal payoff.
Developing . . .
for their sake, let's hope that phrase about fighting city hall isn't true.
ReplyDeleteKCMO is about the only city in the metro that seems to have more "community activists", marchers, complainers, and petitioners than it has voters on election day.
ReplyDeleteThere was just an election recently and the council members who voted for this, and who will continue to vote to give away your tax dollars, were the people you just voted for.
Low-information voters, low turnouts, fake town hall meetings, ignored commitments and promises by candidates, and the same old mindless subsidies given to anyone with so much as a smile and a shoeshine and a pulse.
Notice any pattern?
Big City Excitement! Vibrancy!
ReplyDeleteCKMO Taxpayer Strip Mining operation continues full speed ahead.
ReplyDeleteSo much for a different direction from the new council.
ReplyDeleteGiven the tens of millions of dollars sucked out of the school districts by TIF and other giveaways over the years, and the millions thrown away by paying fake contractors, endless consultants, and employing unqualified family and friends, this latest subsidy, though completely unwarranted and unnecessary, is nickles and dimes.
ReplyDeleteSomebody should sit down with some of the "activists" and try to have a conversation about school finance.
You'd quickly discover just how little they know or understand.
There's always something to march and protest about.
How about some recommendations and suggestions?
And how about demanding that your own children work hard in school, behave like other kids, and get the education they need to have a chance in life?
12:51 This isn't "Black Lives Matter". This is a professional organization with college educated directors and real money behind it. Don't confuse the "activists" with the political action committees. I think you are confusing the two. Using the Convention Petition example, I can assure you Kemper and Tuohey understand school finance.
ReplyDeleteTuohey understand school finance. Hahahahahah! Too cute.
ReplyDeleteAnd Kemper, a do-nothing scion of a wealthy family who had never done anything but play-act at grandeur? Sheeeeeyit.
Nice try.
