SHAME!!! OVER OBJECTIONS OF THOUSANDS TO DIRTY DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL DEAL: MAYOR SLY AND COUNCIL ALLIES DENY KANSAS CITY VOTER PETITION!!!

Today Mayor Sly and a council committee rejected the concerns of THOUSANDS of local voters and will most likely deny a voter petition to push a vote on a controversial downtown convention hotel deal. Sadly, this is likely forcing a legal battle and inevitable delay of the project.
Still . . .
THIS DESPICABLE ACTION FROM MAYOR SLY AND COUNCIL PROVES THEY HAVE NO INTEREST THE WILL OF THE VOTERS AND WOULD RATHER CAST THEIR BALLOT IN FAVOR OF A SHAKY DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR A TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZED CONVENTION HOTEL!!!
There was a myth that all of the lawyers on this council would offer more questions from the City Council about Mayor Sly's plans. Instead, they only seem to be better at updating their social media accounts.

Fair play, Council ladies Heather Hall and Teresa Loar did raise some really important concerns about this deal and Councilman Lee Barnes, Jr. brought the issue of minority participation to the forefront.
Still, the lawyers on the Council have shown very little backbone as of late.
These links simply confirm a discussion our blog community had on Friday . . . More important deets on the way . . .
Pitch: KCMO attorney: Petition to force vote on convention hotel "unconstitutional on its face"
Newspaper: KC Council panel rejects challenge to downtown convention hotel
Biz Journal: KC council committee opposes attempt to force hotel vote
KMBC: City moves closer to showdown over downtown hotel
Devloping . . .
Typical Sly, might and money make right.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, Mr. Barne's concerns were related to proximity to the rim of the trough for his constituents. Please do not confuse this with any sort of statesmanship.
ReplyDeleteTHOUSANDS? lol
ReplyDeleteonly in your nigger dreams
Theresa is taking lots of show votes for right now, must think she can run for mayor next go round if she gets the black "vote"...
ReplyDeleteSly is all about money, he doesn't care about voters.
ReplyDeleteMakes me miss Funkhouser!
ReplyDeleteGovernment for and by Mike Burke.
ReplyDeleteI guess he won the mayoral election after all.
Whats the bitch? The Peckerwoods sat one thier asses and helped reelect Sly and when the present crop runs again we will see a repeat performance. City government has nothing to fear because they know the numb nuts voters wont hold anyone accountable.
ReplyDeleteTony and his Denizens are ecstatic. Something else to bitch about, other than the TOY TRAIN.
ReplyDeleteOMG, that term is so funny.
Do you all wish you could run the business like Sly. Do what ever I say and f-u to any nay sayers, WITH complete lack of accountability. Like some rich kis pissing away the family fortune. Well the family is the residents. This town is way in the hole and will need all of 'whomever lives here' to open up their purse for the actions of a few stinkers. Living in KC should come with a tax credit to the feds.
ReplyDeletefuckin' niggers
ReplyDeleteI haven't been here in a while. Comments are way down. Need to show more skin.
ReplyDeleteYou bitch ass @8:07 - You know you read every day and all day. We love your silly ass to stop by after you finish washing cars.
DeleteAs for Sly and his council whores, they're always a good laugh.
Better title, corporate welfare pimps run Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteSly is their bottom bitch.
The city does not have a leg to stand on. So why are they persisting? Perhaps the situation is something like this: Left to his own devices, the Mayor would back out of the whole thing. It was never meant to get so high-profile. But his backers would pull his ticket in some way if he did. And right now, they have a lot to gain, and they have him to take the fall if it all goes south. So all the Mayor can do is keep "fronting" and hope his backers let loose of it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a done deal, just like the streetcar, the P&L, the Kaufmann Center, the Sprint Center, etc. people keep acting like their opinion matters & they can change anything. It's business as usual
ReplyDeleteSue!!! The MO Supreme Court is likely to take a very different view!! And, Oh by the way, that will take Sly off the hook. He collects his booty, and can say it didn't happen on his watch! This guy is playing you rubes like a violin...GO ROYALS!!
ReplyDeletePlease take a close look at the photo (above) of the Council, and understand that under Mayor James' leadership, the words on the wall behind them shall read:
ReplyDelete"LET DISHONOR UNTRUTHS AND INJUSTICE RULE WITHIN THESE WALLS"
This is a done deal and rushed to completion of the contract while the last council was still in office and before the inevitable petition was submitted. All part of the under-the-table plan.
ReplyDeleteNext up? The Helzberg TIF in the Crossroads.
After that? The UMKC arts campus in the Crossroads.
Next? Streetcar expansion.
All debt-driven and obligating KCMO residents to decades of tens of millions of bond debt service coming out of the general fund, directly negatively affecting basic services, which are already crap.
Logrolling, back slapping, nest feathering, insider dealing, and amateurs playing at "eco devo".
What are you going to run for next?
Come on TKC, less of this shit. Show us more titties and comments from cum guy.
ReplyDeleteWhy are we surprised?
ReplyDeleteThey treated Clay the same way.
Jebuz, this is 4th grade chatter.
ReplyDeleteTrending down and accelerating Tony.
Is that why you're here @ 11:21 at night??? Sure it is, this blog is going downhill so fast that you can't stop reading late at night.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it helps to intellectualize Sly the crook. He's simply a bad Mayor. Nuff said.
Your whistling in the dark,11:21.
ReplyDeletePerhaps its time to petition a recall for Sly James .
ReplyDeleteThis one of the most arrogant Mayors in recent memory.
I don't think we will ever have a fair initiative after the street car vote. This set a precedent, and the precedent is called GERRYMANDERING
It's so much fun to watch you half-wit republican crybabies who couldn't get elected to your neighborhood association howl and cry about "the will of voters" and other such red herrings. More people voted for streetcar expansion than signed this petition. The simple fact is that this hotel deal was done before last election and Sly and the pro-development candidates STILL WON. Easily. And all your half-the-information, twice the outrage antics can't change that.
ReplyDeleteAt this point it would cost taxpayers less over the long run to just let these developers sue.
ReplyDeleteI would actually enjoy watching them sue their "friend" Sly James and his dishonest corrupt lackey's at City Hall who are trying to cram this mess down everyone's throat.
How many times is the KC public going to let this Sly guy say fuck you?
ReplyDelete1:00: +1
ReplyDelete"More people voted for streetcar expansion than signed this petition."
Toot toot, 6:09. Irrelevant hoot. 1700 is all that's needed for a valid petition. They got 6,000. As for the streetcar expansion, no matter how many votes it got, it still failed 60-40. In other words, it was a major clunk.
But you can always gin up your own petition to put it back on the ballot. See ya at Price Chopper?
It passed 60-40 the only place that matters, though...
DeleteWe love it when the entire council, even the freakish lezbo queen Jolie Justus, lines up to give both of us rim jobs in the public square. We rule. Now send us the money and we will cut corners on materials. That's it, lap our assholes because that's why we put you there.
ReplyDeleteDemocrats scamming the taxpayers --
ReplyDeletewhy is this even considered news?
Fuckin brilliant. A town already full of empty hotel rooms. So let's force the taxpayers to pay for MORE empty hotel rooms. Also, the drawings suggest it will be the ugliest building since Stalin quit developing apartment houses.
ReplyDelete8:50 I am against the convention center hotel. But you comment is a flat out lie. Kansas City has one of the highest occupancy rates in the country, and easily higher than the industry average.
ReplyDelete8:01: Keep telling yourself that. So will we be seeing you soon at the Brookside Price Chopper gathering signatures for the next failed streetcar petition?
ReplyDeleteYou better do it before folks get a look at what a streetcar is really like in this century.
9:05 AM --- You're right. I was wrong. Kansas City has one of the highest hotel occupancy rates in the country.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why new hotel are popping up all over ... but not in Kansas City.
if this town is a hotel-industry hot spot, then why do the taxpayers have to guarantee (in advance of one brick being laid) that this new one ... the first new one since ... shit, I can't even remember ... won't be a financial failure?
How am far on the left. But I am dead set against this deal and the streetcar deal as well. This is not a left/right issue. It is a bullshit/nobullshit issue. Does anyone care if a car thief is a Democrat or a Republican?
