The Historic Northeast has endured a tragic uptick in homicide and crime so far this year. In order to address the situation, Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté, met with neighbors and other stakeholders.
Here's the reporting roundup:
Northeast News: Chief addresses crime concerns in Northeast
What really stands out . . .
TO CONCLUDE THE COMMUNITY CONVERSATION . . . THE KCPD CHIEF PROMISES A FIGHT FOR $8 MILLION MORE FORM THE CITY'S BUDGET IN ORDER TO FIGHT RISING CRIME!!!
Money quote:
"At the conclusion of the meeting, prompted by new NEAT Director Mary Cyr, moderators submitted a list of commitments to the chief, seeking additional resources and officers for the community. Chief Forté declined to commit to any of the demands citing the current allocation of resources seemed to be working. However, Forté pledged to go to the city council and Mayor to have the $8 million stripped from the department’s budget this year reinstated in the next budget cycle."
Throughout this violent and bloody year, police have reminded locals that they're understaffed and need more resources. For better or worse, as budget time moves closer, we're hearing the Chief echo those concerns.
Developing . . .
The police have no incentive to reduce crime. In fact they have an incentive to increase crime. The more crime, the more money they can day they needs
ReplyDeleteOh so now it isn't the guns causing it all?
ReplyDeleteA white police chief would say it's the blacks that are the issue.
ReplyDeleteAnd a white police chief would be right
DeleteFuck no!!!!! The police department is not entitled to anymore public funding. They need to keep their promises from 2010 when they claimed that new facilities and equipment was their problem and that was the reason they were not successful. Part of the reason taxpayers approved the tax was so that they could better address crime backlogs and reduce crime. Millions of dollars mismanaged and unaccounted for after voters approved the 1/4 cent public safety sales tax. All.of that money went to the police department and part of that was to hire more police and give raises, etc. Daryle is delusional if they think the public is going to be scared into supporting their continued mismanagement of public funds only to turn around and ask for more. Just say no!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe's gotta fund his overtime somehow.
DeleteSince when do salaried employees earn overtime pay?
DeleteIt is accumulated as comp time and paid out, up to certain limits, at termination or retirement.
DeleteWe need a White conservative police chief and 8 Million heavily armed and heartless White cops to chase down, root out and shoot the niggers in this town. This blog is about the only safe place to express such truth anymore, so I thank you Tony for the Free Speech Zone.
ReplyDeleteAnybody know what lawsuit it is the police board just agreed to settle for $1.5 million?

ReplyDeleteHow 'bout just declare the Gangs & Hood Organized Crime "DOMESTIC TERRORISTS" and call in the Missouri National Guard. Apply military rules of engagement. And take out the criminals. Keep in mind that roughly 4% of the US Population is responsible for right at HALF of ALL violent crime and homicide -- that 4% being black males 15-35.
The FBI defines "Domestic terrorism" as activities with the following three characteristics:
1) Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
2)Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping; and
3) Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.
Gang Violence and Racketeering certainly fall within these categories. Bring in the Military.
ReplyDelete#BlackLivesMatter certainly fall within that definition...
No more of this KC bullshit. The tax payers have been conned and bullshitted out of more damn money on more different shit than any place I have ever seen. In exchange we get a police department the seems little more than a pack of meter maids and traffic ticket enforcement. You get shit attitudes and disrespect towards citizens when dealing with officers. You get an "I don't give a shit" attitude. You get people who think citizens are subservient. You get damn near no bang for your buck at KCPD.
ReplyDeleteThis is the same department that will assign hundreds of officers to a silly assed politician's visit. This is a department that will stop 600 vehicles and inconvenience hundreds of tax payers, get 20 traffic arrests, while wasting thousands of Federal tax dollars. This is a department that will prioritize your felony 911 call while running speed traps in the city. This is a department that just had to buy out residents and take their property to build a new station with a lab and not implement a single new innovation in it to solve homicides in this town. This is a department that will engage in high speed chases, burn up thousands of dollars in resources and endanger scores of innocent lives to make an "authority" point over a damn traffic offense.
It is past time for bringing in fresh blood from the outside and changing the culture at KCPD that has been embedded for decades. Kiddie game is over. Turn some acceptable results or get the fuck out of dodge."NO" is way past due when it comes to tax payer money travelling down the KCPD black hole.

ReplyDeleteAS PREDICTED in this space several weeks ago, "..you should anticipate KCPD Chief Forte to use the rising homicide rate in a request for an expanded budget."
ReplyDeletePerhaps contrary to first impressions, an increase in crime is not necessarily bad news for the KCPD, as it becomes the perfect opportunity to argue for increased funding.
One of the primary rules of a bureaucracy is the insatiable desire for constant growth.
Millions for defense, not one dime for tribute...
ReplyDeleteEvery city department has their angle, otherwise known as "let no good tragedy go to waste"...
ReplyDeleteKCPD - THE RISING MURDER RATE - We need 8 million more dollars to turn the tide, and if we don't get it, your chances of ending up dead will increase.
KCFD - TWO DEAD FIGHERFIGHTERS - Budget cuts can't affect us, after all, we're heroes who risk our lives every day.
WATER DEPARTMENT - EPA MANDATE TO FIX HORRIBLE SYSTEM - Sure, you've been paying your bills, but we're not going to tell you where that money went because we think an audit is a bad idea. We'll need a couple HUNDRED MILLION more in the form of new bonds if you don't want to continue wading through sewage every time it rains.
AIRPORT AUTHORITY - NEW AIRPORT - Yeah, we decided not to maintain the airport for years, and artificially increased congestion by closing a terminal and placing the two busiest carriers side by side, but that doesn't matter. Let us build a new airport or the walls will crumble around you while you wait in a long line for your Delta or Southwest flight.
...and on and on it continues. Notice the common theme? It's all about money, and there are no answers as to where the millions allocated in the budget every year go and why basic services can't be accomplished within these budgets.
It is accumulated as comp time and paid out, up to certain limits, at termination or retirement.
ReplyDeleteTake the money from KCFD. They are overstaffed both at the operational level and in administration. Three man crews, cut the deputy director positions, outsource EMS billing, and equipment maintenance. Also, the former Fire Chief did not have deputy directors. Smokey Dyer had the shift deputy chiefs reporting directly to him, not to a deputy director. This has created an extra level of management.
