MUST READ: JACKSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR TURNS ILLEGAL GUN POSSESSION INTO MURDER CHARGE!!!

In the latest Kansas City murder against two assailants there's an important fact that has been overlooked by most of the media looking for a personal/emotional angle in the coverage.

The Jackson County Prosecutor is using a new tactic to connect illegal guns to make a murder charge . . .

Here's the most important part of a recent statement from the prosecutor that has been overlooked by all of the other news outlets:

"According to court records, both defendants were convicted felons who were involved in the shooting of the victim while both of them were in possession of a firearm. The victim was killed by being shot as a result of their perpetration of the felony of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The suspects and another man were all armed with handguns when they went to the residence on 8100 block of Blue Ridge Blvd. on Oct. 5.

"Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000 for each defendant.

This is the first time, to the knowledge of the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, that an Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon has been used in this jurisdiction as the underlying felony for a charge of Felony Murder 2nd Degree.

“Though such a charge may be deemed novel by some, it is supported by the law and is intended to stop the senseless violence that occurs in this jurisdiction,” Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said in response to questions about the legal strategy. “We will not stand by idly while members of this community are struck down by gun violence. We will take all reasonable steps to stop future violence.”

This kind of gun crackdown is celebrated by most authorities and it's a sign of what could be the Prosecutor has stepped up targeting illegal guns as well as criminals.

  1. The last two paragraphs of this article are 'a sign' your reading comprehension is pitiful. It's about unlawful possession of a firearm, not 'illegal guns'.

  5. If liberal gun grabbers are serious about getting guns off the street, this will happen a lot. Fire up that school to prison street car.

  6. If people kill people and guns don't kill people, we would be handing them out in kindergartens and making it possible for college kids to take them to classes.

Oh wait, in Kansas they actually ARE making it possible for college kids to take their guns to classes.

    Silly me.

  8. Lets don't go trying to stuff ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag here. This is PR bullshit. The idea that the subjects were committing any felony is sufficient. This is just more horseshit lazy assed Peters can use to wave her anti-gun flag later. The critical issue is not what people are charged with for the purposes of getting press, but what you actually end up convicting them of in a county court. In Peters case that alone should be a fucking felony.
