Local mainstream media is trying desperately to turn this social media tidbit and more Royals hype into a story. Take a look:

The reality is, one of the few moviemakers who still matters asked: "Who is in Kansas City?" and Mayor Sly took the opportunity to fire off some fanboy trash talk accompanied by this statement:
"Spike apparently lost control of himself on ESPN and in declaring his fandom for the Mets which is perfectly fine considering he lives in New York and probably has not been out of it for several years but then had to say well who's in Kansas City anyhow?" James said, "I took personal offense to that so I and a bunch of others have been engaged in a process of trying to let Spike Lee know who lives in Kansas City."
SO FAR NO REAL REAX FROM SPIKE LEE
And the reality is that Mayor Sly leads the bandwagon of politicos looking to earn points by way of love for the Kansas City Royals whilst City Hall priorities remain focused on corporate tax break giveaways, a basic lack of transparency for voters and focus on downtown biz development over all neighborhood and community concerns.
Hopefully, Spike Lee (one of the most brilliant auteurs of the modern era) will continue to ignore the Mayor in hopes that Kansas City's top elected official stays busy with real work as an elected official and not just promo hype that makes people feel good but accomplishes nothing.

ReplyDeleteWell, actually "Do The Right Thing" is laugh out loud stupid. Black people, stereotyped, correctly as whining, entitled, violent thugs, who, in the end, burn down a pizza place because the Italian owners don't put pictures of blacks on the walls.
The sequel will be blacks in the same neighborhood, complaining about how there is a "Food Desert" and no business' except Bail Bonds, Nail Salons, Hair Weaves and Liquor Stores, which, when you think about it, is actually the high water mark of Black Culture.
Spike Lee, were he not black, wouldn't get a second look at anything in the Entertainment Business other than "Best Boy".
Hey, maybe he will make a movie about the tsunami of black on white violence, the most under reported story of our generation and the lick spittle press who refuse to cover it?

Tell you what, after the Mets win the series, you can come and spend your money here at THE CONCERT FOR NEW YORK CITY, but otherwise GOOD FENCES make for good neighbors, and you'll have to go home cause NYC is a SUCKER FREE CITY!!
