Jackson County Insiders Ask: Where Was Legislator 'Advocate' Crystal Williams Amid Worker Healthcare Increase???
A healthcare cost increase of more than 15% for Jackson County workers is only the beginning of their problems . . . Skyrocketing co-pays and cruel benefit restrictions are pushing many workers at the County off of their employer plans . . . More than a few Courthouse denizens are now without healthcare thanks to a recent emergency legislative move.
The money crunch is mostly thanks to a big settlement on the way for the jail hot mess . . . And let's not forget the lingering questions about Brittany Burke's mystery contract which was ironically connected to healthcare.
For now, let's focus on the promises of a so-called reformer . . .

Not a peep from this politico who is Health & Environment chair AND Legislative committee vice chair who also touts her work lobbying for healthcare and women's issues.
There's more to cover on this issue but for now let's remind voters that when a budget crunch cracked down on healthcare for low income County workers . . . Crystal Williams didn't make any significant objections.

ReplyDeleteGive the Democrats their Obamacare and march on. Fuck'n hell! They supported the Act when they thought the county was going to pay their insurance costs and the pissant tax payers were going to be stuck. Screw them. Let them deal with the same shit most citizens do day in and day out.
ReplyDeleteOn this one, there's nothing that Crystal (or anyone else) can do. A result of the healthcare law (and all of it's additional requirements) is that insurance costs go up for everybody who's not getting them heavily subsidized. At this point, the county isn't trying to save money, there just trying to limit the increased costs.
ReplyDeleteLet the county employees endure the same pain most private business and their employees have been dealing with for the last few years. Expect your employer to contribute a smaller percentage and you a larger one, expect overall costs (and thus, your portion) to increase at least 10% per year, and don't be surprised if your employer decides the penalty for not providing insurance is much cheaper than dealing with the escalating costs. After all, we're constantly told how great the exchanges are, surely there's no PR problem with giving all of your employees a chance to participate.
Crystal is scared of Denny Waites, and its Denny's buddy who sells insurance to the county. The County just takes whatever Denny's homeboy sends to them, which results in big commissions for the broker. As long as the FBI is hanging around the county, they should look into that no-bid bit of business and just what Denny gets in return.

ReplyDeleteI think she is typical of Hyde Park , and many of its wealthy residents. Hyde Park is probably one of the most Racist neighborhoods in KCMO. They overwhelming support her and would probably reelect her regardless of any of her drunkenness or anti middle-class views.
