There has always been tension between the church and the state. There always will be such tension. Professional sports (and college or even high school sports across America's small towns) to fulfil the state's role of entertainer. This is simply the circus half of bread and circus.
ReplyDeleteThe ancient Greeks didn't consider themselves selves Greeks. Rather, they were Athenians or whathaveyou. Team sports is as close as we get to that sense of civic pride. We are damn sure it going to have such orders in the edifices of our rulers.
Fuck this clown. Where is it written that God needs the hundreds of religions mankind has cooked up in order to make their behaviour acceptable? Take that religious bullshit and shove it. Not even a God would be sticking around for the clusterfuck we have created on earth.
