A postscript and dateline for the moment when Kansas City's daily newspaper stopped trying to show any semblance of journalistic integrity and became one of a litany of angry voices on the Internet -- Only without as much creativity of cleavage & booty shots.
In one of his most vitriolic attacks to date, the senior editorial columnist for the Kansas City Star quite literally attacks the religious views of a political opponent: Yael T. Abouhalkah: Gov. Sam Brownback's religious zealotry is hurting Kansas

End times shit man, never thought I'd see Yael cross the line like that.
ReplyDeleteYou are still quoting the KC SITAR? I thought the went out in the late 60's
ReplyDeleteIt's called separation of church and state for a reason. Brownback is a total failure but keeps being quoted that he prays for the right decisions. That's a lie. He is doing what the Kochs and Grover Norquist want him to do. God isn't involved anywhere, campaign contributers are.
ReplyDeleteThe Star gets their tax breaks but the taxpayers of Kansas aren't entitled to theirs? I cancelled my subscription, its just not worth reading anymore. Same old stuff, Brownback sucks, tax breaks and tourism will save KCMO, crime is decreasing. Might as well write war is peace, freedom is slavery.
ReplyDeleteYael calling someone else an idiot
ReplyDeleteNow thats priceless but rather condescending.
Brownback told the Star he does what he does because it is the will of his god.
ReplyDeleteWhat Brownback has done has fucked up Kansas and made life harder for many of its people. To say nothing of making the state a national laughingstock.
What is it with you people? Just because he believes in Jeezus makes it all ok? You are ignorant fucks.
Well said.
Delete1132. Truth.
ReplyDeleteBrownback isn't following the teachings of Jesus. Not even close. Read the New Testament and the stark contrasts are easy to spot.
ReplyDelete11:21
ReplyDeleteBrilliant.
I don't agree with Brownback or his policies but I do so on the basis of fact and results.
ReplyDeleteYael attacking a man because of his faith is simply unacceptable and out of bounds. If the Star actually cared about keeping readers they would fire this old and out of touch columnist Abouhalkah. He is a vindictive man and his attacks based on Christianity have made it clear that he has a vendetta against other Catholics. I will never buy the Star as long as he is working for that paper.
Interesting, the all reports from last week show that the OR shooter was very anti-Christian. And even in a very Christian nation guys like the shooter, Yael and @11:32 still feel empowered to spew their bigotry onto the public. I wonder where Yael and @11:32 learned their bigotry from?
ReplyDeleteHey guys, do me a favor stay away from gun free zones in the near future will you?
Tony bitching about the Star.
ReplyDeletePriceless.
And on a Monday no less.
Shocked to the extent by balls fly off.
Looking forward to the next cutting edge blog entry.
"Brownback told the Star he does what he does because it is the will of his god." I did not find where he said that in the column or the news article. Point out where Brownback said that.
ReplyDelete104; facts get in the way of my preconceived bias.
ReplyDeleteI'm a middle class white male with a computer. Don't challenge me when I can discern any outcome I want.
Here's a question:
ReplyDeleteAt what point to editorials like this about politics in Kansas hurt Star reporters' ability to do their job? I mean, what politician would talk to a beat reporter if you thought Yael was just going to write a screed about it?
Star keeps attacking Kansas politicians while the Missouri packrats continue to literally cornhole the voters without intervention.
ReplyDeleteChristians don't follow the teachings of Jesus ben Joseph, they follow the teachings of a Roman Soldier named Saul.
ReplyDeleteAttempts to resist Christian Tyranny are not an attack on Christians.
Religious Freedom means the right to not be an Anglican.
He didn't attack him for being religious he attacked him because his religion is interfering with the proper operation of the state.
ReplyDeleteIt's like attacking niggers because of the color of their skin, and...no wait, that's valid.
Byron...spoken like the OR shooter.
ReplyDeleteByron is rewriting history.
ReplyDeleteLet's try and make rational decisions based off an irrational book.
ReplyDeleteKevin do have a good point there
ReplyDeleteYael is right. Religion is for trash. Jesus is fake. The resurrection is a lie. Mary hung horns on Joseph's forehead. Babymama is nasty and bastards should have been aborted.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you guys, but I take my theological guidance from a gay, mincing Jew from the Star.
ReplyDelete1:01 -- This is NOT a "very Christian nation."
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of Christians, but most of them are only nominal Christians (i.e., for social/business reasons) and neither believe the fairy tales not do what their preachers tell them to do. Of the minority who actually are actively Christian, many or most of them are crackpots, fanatics and/or otherwise less than rational.
Many millions of us ---- many mllions ---- are NOT Christians and get goddam sick and tired of being told that we are a Christian nation.
Take your god and shove it. We don't want none of that shit.
