DESPICABLE!!! KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES ATTEMPTS TO BLOCK PUBLIC VOTE ON PETITION TO PREVENT DIRTY DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL DEAL!!!
Earlier this year a city council candidate concerned with the rights of the community called Mayor Sly James a dictator and challenged his aggressive style of leadership from across a crowded room of constituents.
To wit . . .
TODAY WE WITNESS MAYOR SLY'S DESPICABLE WORK AGAINST VOTERS AND LOCAL DEMOCRACY WITH A SHAMEFUL EFFORT TO PREVENT A PUBLIC VOTE DESPITE THE WILL OF PETITIONERS AGAINST AN EXPENSIVE DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL DEAL!!!
Here's the wording of the legislation FIRST on TKC:
#150906: Declaring the Council's decision to not repeal Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 150357 and Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 150597 and to not adopt an ordinance proposed by a committee of petitioners to require an election before executing any agreement to develop, finance, construct, or operate any downtown convention center headquarters hotel.
Sponsored only by Mayor Sly James and seeking to stop any resistance before it starts.

MAYOR SLY JAMES HOPES TO EXCLUDE THE VOTING PUBLIC AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVES FROM CHANGING A RUSHED DEAL UNDER THE THREAT OF LAWSUIT AND NOW THIS CHEAP LEGISLATIVE STUNT!!!
More than anything else, this is a sign that Kansas City's Mayor is actively working against direct Democracy and running the city like a C.E.O. and not a public servant.

Um, that's a bit much but sooner or later I think Clay and others are pushing City Hall to move against citizen initiative petitions. In the end the confrontation will have voters on the losing side.

ReplyDeleteNone of this is the least bit difficult to understand.
ReplyDeleteSly won re-election with token and even comically poor opposition and the voter turnout in the election was the lowest in memory.
He didn't need the residents to be actual voters and he sure doesn't need them now.
The usual insiders and swells who haunt the halls on the 22nd and 29th floors of city hall are the same folks who financed Sly's last campaign as well as much of the current council, and will be hit up again as these amateur politicos go hand over hand from one elected position to the next.
Sly just continues to dance with the one who brung him.
And Glorioso and the gang will be handsomely paid for another underhanded e-tax campaign soon and will prevail. Low turnout again.
Just 3 1/2 years of this crap left and then a new face will appear in the mayor's office.
And that person will behave exactly the same way.
It never changes.
That is why government doesn't work and is merely a tool of the totalitarian oppressor(s), whether it be on the city, state, or national theatre. Also, it shows that only about 3% of the public deserves to be unaffected by government and to live in the natural preferable state of anarchy. The rest of the people need and deserve the totalitarian-tyranny of their government. And, they shall have it and have it increasingly. It appears to me that most people are getting what they desire and deserve.
