It has been a bloody past few months in Kansas City. The uptick in violence and murder has been punctuated by horrific killings claiming the lives of innocent children.
Now as we approach the end of the year, we see some (but not all) politicos working feverishly to combat this trend.
And this spars our TKC QUESTION as another weekend of potential gunfire and homicide looms . . .
WILL KANSAS CITY TURNAROUND THIS TRAGIC HOMICIDE TREND AND PRESERVE LAST YEAR'S PROGRESS???
Here's a look at Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker looking to rally the community against violence by touting neighborhood involvement in the fight against crime:

Witnesses step forward in three more murders: Murder charges filed in three recent killings
Felony charges against the mother of a 5-year-old boy killed by gunfire have been amended to include Murder in the 2nd Degree, and murder charges have been filed in two other recent fatal shootings, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
In each of these new cases, Baker emphasized, key witnesses stepped forward to work with police and helped to bring justice for the victims’ families. In some instances, family members had to speak up against a family member; in other instances the help was simply an anonymous call to the TIPS Hotline.
“Every day we see good citizens step forward to do the right thing,” Baker said. “I can’t thank our community enough for their crucial role in helping to win justice.”
In the case involving the death of the 5-year-old boy, prosecutors today filed an amended complaint against defendant Lisa Marie Hall, 23, of Kansas City, charging her with Murder in the 2nd Degree because the boy was killed as a result of her perpetration of the felony of Unlawful Use of a Weapon. She also faces Domestic Assault 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st Degree.*
In the second homicide, prosecutors have filed Murder in the 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges against Dominque A. Lindsey for the fatal shooting on July 14, 2015 of Ewon Wright in a residence in the 3800 block of College Avenue.*
And in the third case, prosecutors today charged Shawn A. Bell, 39, in the fatal shooting on Thursday of Tony Stark near 6th and Myrtle in the Northeast area of Kansas City.*
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $500,000 for Lindsey, who remains at-large, and a $250,000 bond for Bell.
Hall remains in custody on $150,000/10 percent bond, set after the initial charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Endangering the Welfare of a Child were filed. Today, prosecutors requested that her bond be set at $200,000 cash.

Now, this is encouraging and has been trumpeted by the local media but notice the spate of local gunfire hasn't taken a break.
Take a look at today's litany of news reporting local violence in Jackson County and beyond along with today's progress against violence:
KMBC: 1 shot outside a house in Independence
Fox4: Prosecutors announce new charges in three separate KCMO homicides, including death of 5-year-old boy
KSHB: Man charged in fatal July shooting
Channel4: KCMO man fatally wounded during shooting
Testing The Broken Windows Theory: KC NOVA and local communities pair up for Take Care of Prospect initiative
And so . . .
Will the prosecutor's efforts work? And why aren't more recently elected politicos taking part in the fight against a Kansas City homicide spike???
You decide . . .
It's important that she's prosecuting these homicides but without cooperation from judges there isn't much that will change.
ReplyDeleteAs long as there is a revolving door mentality in prisons, the cycle of violence will continue.
Sly James and crew is creating "fake wealth" for the local masses that could vanish overnight while making millionaires out of a handful of buddy's and contributors.
ReplyDeleteAs long as this is going on not much will change.
Will Kansas City's black community rally to turn around recent homicide uptick trend? Isn't that really the question?
ReplyDeleteHyde Park experienced its latest homicide, shot in a church park named Peace Park.
ReplyDeleteThe source of much of the crime is the Bainbridge.
While this neighborhood has been dodging bullets for weeks , the homes association is promoting upscale housing, and in total denial.
They have circled their wagons this sec.8 property and are protecting the criminals that are living there and are turning their backs on the homeowners.
Someone is about to make a fortune with a MAC plan....could it be those deeply involved in the neighborhood association. Crime goes up property values are dropping fast.hmmm
At least she's doing something. What is Mayor James doing?
ReplyDeleteI live in North Hyde Park i couldn't agree more gangs ,drugs gunfire and murder and a affluent lawyer /association prez . Folks are putting their houses on the market ,who gonna live here. I bet there is a plan in the works for eminent domain. Buy cheap build expensive. Crime keeps go n up
ReplyDeleteI favor the wholesale slaughter of niggers.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Good luck affecting change in KCMO. Jackson County Missouri has one of the most corrupt court systems in America.
ReplyDelete5th worst run city in America. Sly's legacy.
ReplyDeleteEfforts remain fragmented. Still too many refuse to cooperate and will not provide info on shootings. Time to move past marches and balloon releases. Acknowledge Broken Window policing does not work. Support police in their job, including evaluating the systematic way Chief Forte disassembled units which were effective at reducing crime. Give Parole Officers back the ability to immediately issue warrants on parolees, and hold Judge's accountable for their rulings on probationers. Too many keep granting continuance, in spite of multiple supervision violations. The Board of Probation & Parole has made many changes in its supervision practices which may be negatively impacting crime rate. The media has always given that agency a free pass in its role on KC crime trends. Why?
ReplyDeleteThat new super duper green apartment building they are building on the river front can be converted-re-purposed into a prison in the future.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Listen to mean Jean praise everyone for stepping up to the plate and doing their part to catch killers while she wheels and deals them out to lesser charges or weak assed sentences. Maybe her office needs to roll up some sleeves and do their part in making shooters and murderers pay a high price for violent crime. Might not hurt if others grasp that you don’t want to be pulling shit on the streets of the city. Anyone down at Jackson County willing to get your pie holes off TV and actually go to work.
ReplyDelete5:52 and 6:07 Thanks for your commentary on the Hyde Park area this I didn't know much about. I do agree that crime is escalating and being swept under the rug keeping it hush. Its always about money and someone will gain from it.
ReplyDeleteAlso Sly wants to make it appear as though he has this city under control but you can't quite all the homicides that happen in this town.
KC is becoming a shithole, Waldo and Brookside you better think about packing your bags and placing a 4 Sale sign in your yard before property values take the big plummet.
Goodbye and Good luck
I think most of the people agree that the answer is a resounding NO. And for all the complaints about local government corruption. Just realize that it's worse on the east side.
ReplyDeleteThey'll have some success capturing some of the murderers. However, the bulk of the cases will remain unsolved. The fact it has taken a whole year or two and we still dont know who killed Damia White, reveals the type of success that is to be expected. Don't look for any of the Black electeds to do much of anything, either. They've already won election or re-election. Now its time to renege on all those vague campaign promises and look for better prospects. They've got four years from August 1, 2015. Thanks for playing.
ReplyDeleteThat Polar Bear was smart. He called Mayflower, sold his digs on Ward Parkway and moved to the Ozarks.
ReplyDeleteSmart move. Others should follow his suggestion.
This woman doesn't know what she's doing. She's just another politician.

ReplyDeleteThe Polar Bear did the right thing, color me jealous indeed.
I don't know what all the hype is for except maybe news ratings. The fact of the matter is, no one cares about 98% of the "victims" of these murders since most of them are the dregs of society anyway. People either don't care or are glad another ghetto rat is off the government handout list.
ReplyDeleteAs for Jean Peterless-Baker, she's the biggest joke in Jackson Co behind Slyme.
But, you're a dickless dreg.
