This afternoon we have the latest word in ANOTHER tragic instance of a gunfire death of a local child.

Mother charged in 5-year-old boy’s shooting death
A 23-year-old Kansas City woman has been charged with two felonies in connection with the fatal shooting on Saturday of a 5-year-old boy in his residence in Kansas City’s Northeast area, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Lisa Marie Hall, dob: 11/21/1991, faces Unlawful Use of a Weapon, a Class D felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class C Felony.*
According to court records, the child died about 7 a.m. on Sept. 5, 2015. Witnesses told police that the defendant and her boyfriend were drinking and had been bickering in a bedroom inside a residence in the 400 block of N. Elmwood Avenue. Then a gunshot was heard and the mother ran from the bedroom carrying the 5-year-old child after he had been shot. No other adults were in the bedroom at the time of the argument and shooting, the witness stated. The boyfriend told police that he and the defendant had purchased a hand gun the day before. Both defendant and her boyfriend first told police someone called “504” had confronted them in the bedroom when the boy was shot. Later, the boyfriend told police that he and the defendant had been in an argument. Hall was seated on the bed and her son was standing next to the boyfriend, when Hall pulled a handgun from her waist and fired at him. Hall’s son fell to the floor, the witness told police. Police found a live 9mm round and a spent bullet in a clost in the bedroom.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $150,000. The case remains under investigation.

"Police say JaQuail Mansaw was killed when someone drove by his family’s home on North Early Street and sprayed it with bullets. He was shot in the back and later died at the hospital. He is the fourth child killed by gunfire in our area since October.
"Six-year-old Angel Hooper was shot outside a South Kansas City, Mo., gas station with her father in mid-October. Two men have been charged in her murder.
Nine days later, 10-year-old Machole Stewart was killed in a drive-by shooting at her home near 15th and New Jersey in Kansas City, Kan."
In May of 2015 Amorian Hale was killed on a Sunday morning as the result of a drive-by . . .
This list of local kids killed by gunfire also remembers the tragic deaths of Damiah White and Kahlif L'ron Hampton who were murdered a little more than a year ago.
And of course the latest death by way of a gunshot to the head of a local child has rocked Kansas City to its core.
Accordingly . . .
WHEN KANSAS CITY POLITICOS AND PUBLIC OFFICIALS TALK ABOUT THE LOWER HOMICIDE COUNT OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO ANSWER FOR THE UPTICK IN DEAD CHILDREN PLAGUING KANSAS CITY!!!
The stat game of election season has been busted and now Kansas City is enduring a 20% homicide increase.
Even worse . . . This rhetorical battle over the homicide count in Kansas City features a despicable tactic by those pushing propaganda who want locals to overlook this homicide trend claiming the lives of more and more local children.

ReplyDeleteDoesn't the Star and other blogs have the market covered about that, nobody wants to talk about what's real. A lot of people don't like TKC but nobody else consistently talks about this stuff every day. A lot of time people just want to forget these murders and that's a shame.
The KCAC is not going to speak out on this.

Truth: Most non-urban core citizens are not concerned about these child deaths. They've grown numb to the relentless violence which is KCMO Eastside and KCKS. Local politicians and KCPD's Chief give lip service to solving the problem while they continue working on projects like an unneeded convention center hotel, an unneeded new airport, an unneeded streetcar, and an unlawful attempt to raise the minimum wage.
Don't hold your breath, but maybe someone on the new Council will have an epiphany that basic services like streets, water, sewer, and public safety HAVE TO be adequately maintained before anything else
can be considered.
