Just a quick tidbit for dedicated TKC readers staying home tonight or waiting in a line or for some broad . . . Maybe both.
AMID KANSAS CITY ROYALS HYSTERIA . . . OUR BLOG COMMUNITY ADVISES FANS TO CONSERVE CASH AND BUY LOCAL MERCH RATHER THAN OVERPRICED MLB GEAR!!!
Outfitting rugrats in $40 t-shirts for the benefit of baseball corporations is ridiculous. Spend that cash on one nice t-shirt for YOURSELF and outfit the little ones in cheap blue generic garb. Take a photo with them and they can treasure the memory of YOUR nice tee for their long days ahead trying to stay in the middle-class and/or middle-management.
We'll have more on t-shirt etiquette later . . .
Some suggestions to start the local t-shirt hunt . . .
Raygun - These guys aren't completely local but all of their stuff is American made and they probably have to buy lunch in KC when they take a break from their Crossroads shop. By far these are the most clever KC-based t-shirt makers and their stuff has more swagger than other far-too-nice-and-cheery fare or other outfitters.
Normal Human - At the opposite end of the spectrum and coming from Westport these t-shirt makers are all granola and gooey for Kansas City. We suggest buying one of these for a GF or a wife who has been exceptionally "giving" -- For lack of a better euphemism and because we still believe in romance.
Charlie Hustle - They hire a bunch of local hipsters and they seem like a very hard working upstart outfit.
Moreover . . .
ALL OF THESE OPTIONS ARE BETTER THAN GIVING AWAY MORE CASH TO TAX BREAK MLB CORPORATIONS WHO CONTINUE TO JACK UP TICKET AND FOOD PRICES!!!
One more . . .
ALSO . . . OUR BLOG COMMUNITY CONTENDS THAT ROYALS TEES AND SWEATSHIRTS ARE JUST FINE BUT A DUDE WEARING ANOTHER GUY'S NAME ON HIS BACK WITH A FANBOY JERSEY JUST SEEMS A BIT SUSPICIOUS AND NOT A MANLY SPORTS FAN GESTURE AT ALL!!!
It's your cash so do what you want . . . However, the entitlement mentality that the MLB takes over Kansas City deserves more than a bit of push back that local media isn't willing to provide.
And all of this inspires tonight's playlist . . .
As always, thanks for reading this week, we're already getting good stuff ready for the morning but in the meantime have a safe and fun Saturday night!!!
Lemonheads?
ReplyDeleteYou bastard. Don't tarnish my memory of this great 90s band!
I'll take the Chiefs gear. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWow. I rag on Buttfuckholio quite a bit (and for good reason) but I have to give him props for highlighting local businesses. This is the type of stuff you need to do more often, Tony.
