TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! MIKE SANDERS TAKES UNPRECEDENTED BREAK: ACTING JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE APPOINTED!!!

In the midst of ongoing questions about a controversial contract, a conflict regarding the jail guards and the loss of his father, Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders is taking a moment to himself.

To wit . . .

KICK-ASS JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS SEND WORD OF IMPORTANT LEGISLATION APPOINTING AN INTERIM COUNTY EXEC!!!

Take a look:

Executive Order: "I hereby appoint Mary Lou Brown as Acting County Executive until further notice."

The move has courthouse insiders curious . . .

One Insider says:

"I haven't seen anything like this at the County since the inception of the new charter. In fact, before that, this hasn't happened in at least 30 years. Appointing an interim exec is an extreme move even for a prolonged absence because that hands over a lot of power without a public vote."

Of course the County Executive always uses his family as an excuse for most of his moves and this could very well be related to grieving time . . . Don't expect many follow-up questions from newsies who might not really understand this strange hiatus.

Again, there are other controversies swirling around the courthouse that make this move just a bit more suspicious.

  1. With property tax discounts, we won't see much reporting on this. ANd by other scandals I am wondering if you are noticing the jail controversy too?

  3. Now, if we could get the Mayor to follow suit and the remaining city council encumbents then we'd have a real show. Judges circuit and city courts could also stand a shake up.

  4. !!!???
This is unAmerican. Who is this interim county exec!!!!??? I did not vote for her! Is Sanders thinking that this is Kentucky and he doesn't have to do his job?

We all have problems. But we go to work!

  5. Sounds like someone is negotiating with the feds.

  6. Of course few ever understand when those with power relinquish it voluntarily.

I suspect his father's illness and subsequent death caused him to reexamine his priorities; and, in the scheme of things, being the head of Jackson County -- well, who was the County Ex in 1995? Who cares?

  7. Jackson County Missouri politicians look like children when the pull this act of a death in the family being so traumatic they need time off witg full benefits. What this says to the public is tax payers can die like dogs on a bed of straw

  8. Sanders is toast, he's being hit from all sides and I wouldn't doubt we'll see a quick resignation that doesn't even make it on the news. Now that might be the reason that so many are running away from him.

    ReplyDelete
  9. He should have fixed the county jail sooner, now he might be a guest.

  10. Mike relinquished his power when he moved Combat into his county exec office and handed the county over to Felon Tindall and Jim Nunnelly.
Dear FBI pleeeeze pull the Combat files! And check into why Felon Tindall was given a bullshit county job as Director of Housing. A no bid, no listing job created for Tindall.

Any County Legislator with more than 2 years on the job is guilty of colluding with Felon Tindall.

    Mike, WTF?

  11. Nah, not the county, but Leavenworth

  12. County is a mess, time to clean house.

  13. Oh my Tony.
Your source is a font of misinformation.
Interim County Executive never been done ?
    Complete bull shit.
The very first County Executive under the new Charter, George Lehr, appointed an interim on several occasions (Bill Kimsey, his Dir. of Admin). Went on with future County Executives. It only means someone is still at the County who can sign documents and other mundane duties when the County Executive has left the jurisdiction.
I would venture a guess that Sanders has done it far less than former Executives.
    Let's get real here.

Yes, Calvin, let's get real. What kind of deal did he make? Does he get immunity or not.

I guess we won't get to see him take out of the courthouse in handcuffs.

  16. Than you Tony Botello for posting this link but I think that even you will admit this is one of those times when we need a REAL NEWSPAPER to start covering what is happening in our local government!

  17. The Sheriff should move in and take over the county. He has the authority.

  18. Check out the date on the Order: Sept. 4.

Obviously, Mike was taking time off to be with his dying father, so he had to designate someone in his office to act on his behalf -- exactly as he is supposed to do under the circumstances.

    Non-story.

  19. The charter has changed a lot since Lehr someone show me or quote the part of the charter that gives him this authority ,I can't find it and I am a lawyer.

  20. He is on his way out the door. Don't buy it's cause of father's death. Goodbye Mike, hello FBI and Grand Jury. Time to review Combat decisions, contracts, and Sanders' finances.

  22. Miss Sweetie Pie all agog!9/15/15, 10:16 PM

    Mr. Tony,
I have just scoured that charter. There is no provision for an acting county executive. Effectively Mr. Sanders has vacated his seat. In doing so he seems to have used a part of the charter to name a temporary person until the Legislators vote for a replacement. That replacement has a short term. An election would be held. Now, that person can run for a permanent seat. But there isn't any way this person is just an interim person until Mike gets back.....
    Hey! Wait!

    Did Skippy just resign?

    This is getting exciting!
