THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! CHECK TOP 5 KANSAS CITY RISING LATINO STARS FOR HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH!!!

For years local Latinos have been given empty promises about more influence in Kansas City politics by legislators who have systematically managed to thwart any consistent representation for the Hispanic community for about 2 decades.

Remember that Kansas City hasn't seen a Latino city council member for more than a generation now despite the fact that Hispanics have been the largest and fastest growing minority group in Kansas City for more than a decade.

Like it or not, Latinos are now the largest minority group currently enduring the tragedy of Kansas City Public Schools.

But every political fight is really about the future and right now the local Hispanic Community has reason for optimism.

To wit . . .

CHECK THESE KANSAS CITY TOP 5 RISING STARS AMONG THE LOCAL LATINO COMMUNITY!!!

What's neat about this crew is that they for the most part they aren't aligned with traditional Hispanic interests and seem to be pushing forward thanks to professional aptitude rather than identity politics.

Here's a quick introduction for tonight . . .

Manny Abarca- Community Affairs Liaison for Congressman Cleaver

Mr. Abarca is the youngest and most promising Kansas City Latino power player on our list. Still in his early 20s, this upstart politico is at the apex of influence in KCMO as a member of Congressman Cleaver's office.

School Board Member Marisol Montero

A tireless advocates for parents and community. This Latina power player has a great deal of support from a broad coalition of the diverse communities of Kansas City's urban core.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney @ Jackson County Prosecutor's Office

After a brief stints as a council candidate, Mr. Rea now directs his efforts toward the fight against crime and is one of the youngest members of prosecutor "Mean Jean" Peters Baker's team.

Genaro Ruiz - Parks And Rec Community Services

Formerly in the Mayor's office and recently a member of his wife's campaign team for a controversial city council run . . . Mr. Ruiz might soon return to the political scene according to insiders.

Jean Paul Chaurand - Parks & Rec Board Prez

Now the most connected family member of a Westside political dynasty. Mr. Chaurand continues to have a prolific connection to the political and business world.

These rising Latino stars represent the best of the best for local Latinos and seem to signal a renaissance of younger leadership guiding Kansas City's future from a Hispanic perspective.

And all of this has inspired tonight's playlist . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  3. these are 2nd and 3rd generation. TKC, you need to focus on newer immigrants and the drugs an violence they are bringing to KCMO.

  4. Very little in the form of "accomplishment" with this group. Just playing out the minority hand at every opportunity. Failed attempts to wallow at the public cash trough would be the common bond of these would be Latino grifters.

  5. What happened to all the white people in KC?

This was once a great city.

  6. Hey, 1:08am, they're here. Though, fewer with passage of years, because it's like Pat Buchanan wrote .."the browning of America".
For awhile now whites were having smaller families, going childless, and delaying childbirth (greatgrandparents and grandparents not around as long into little Susie's midlife). So total population of non-white immigrants and non-white U.S. citizen birth rates starting to outpace whites . . . voila! Or, viva!
Now we have freakouts and the bitching gets nasty, but unless more whites hookup younger and fill up the McMansions with 3 or 4 siblings to a room, we go less palefaces, pronto.
Additionaly, their white teens would have to get a jump on starting their 3 to 4 offspring NOW.
Just the way it is, whites got behind the curve buying fancy stuff and getting those MBAs instead of procreating younger.
Whites......puting sunscreen and chardonnay out of business!!!!!!!
My grandchildren (Irish/Italian/Colombian and Slav) are the light browns soon to be the larger population growth here by 2nd/ 3rd and beyond generations. Our family gatherings are a gourmand's heaven.
