Multiple triple shootings and a recent spate of murders have sent the Kansas City homicide count back toward typical levels after politicos and local community leaders touted unprecedented promise last year.

The next update to KCMO homicide numbers should reveal the murder count now over 70 killings so far this year compared to only 54 at this time last year.
The numbers are comparable to the average over the last 5 years.

ReplyDeleteForte was on tv a week or two ago saying he didn't need more officers on the streets. The city needed to spend that money elsewhere. What you didn't see was the Mayors hand up Forte's rectum like a puppet. The city saw a statistical anomaly last year, decided to say they had solved world hunger and the Palestinian/Israeli conflict only to find out they didn't discover fire.
ReplyDelete718, you must be in the pocket of the police union. Their typical answer to anything is "we need more cops!" Let's say we hired a hundred more cops. That is an absolutely excessive number, well let's just say. What exactly would that have done to prevent this? Would 100 extra cops have been able to stand there and personally supervise every single individual in the entire neighborhood, 24 hours a day? Doubling down on more cops when Kansas City already has an extremely high number of police to population ratio is clearly not the answer. If something isn't working I don't do more of it, so why dump more money into the endless pit that is KCPD? Their budget already consumes more money of the city's general fund than any other item in the entire budget. This city exists more than to be a police state. Other cities have done far better with crime reduction using less money, less cops and more common sense than Kansas City ever could hope for.

A basketball court at a public park is just what the doctor ordered. What passes for black leadership is incredible. I have to scratch my head sometimes. I'm certain that the shooter will run right down to play a few hoops before he/she/they murder their next victim. Food dessert, lack of public investment, lack of activities for the youth, and all the other publicly funded activities wont do a bit of good. A culture that invites and rewards violent behavior will only cease when the values shift. Yelling and shaking down the establishment for gifts, money, titles, facetime, etc., didnt work in the 1950's and doesnt work now.

And you can bet your boots that Mayor Sly will find permanent positions in City Hall for those staffers who like getting money for nothing. Meanwhile we are really dodging bullets and joining groups like Stolen KC on Facebook because we have to track down our own stolen items.
I really appreciate our city however we deserve better output from the current Mayor. And for heaven's sake Chief Forte enough of the "I got this!" talk! No, you don't have this! It is freaking dangerous in our city!
Let's just face it, all these shootings have ONE thing in common, and only ONE thing: they were done with guns! End of story!

ReplyDeleteHas KCPD done one thing to implement current technology that allows detection of DNA from shell casings - therefore a huge leap in identifying the person who loaded the bullets? Has the PD worked for Federal funding to implement this technology while they we bucking for overtime traffic stop hours?I bet the answer is hell no in spite of the city spending millions on this new laboratory. Just another fleecing of the tax payers with little to show for it.
