TKC, I think readers might like to see some proposed solutions rather than just more listing of local violence.

733 is correct. The easiest answer is getting rid of them. In countries that curtailed pistol ownership, gun crime and gun death decreased almost overnight.
ReplyDelete740 links, or stats to back that up? In fact the cities in the US which have the most strict gun control, also have the highest murder rates...Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore....etc.

ReplyDelete7:33 - no, it is legal in most of europe to own a gun. There are restrictions however: legal age, criminal background check, non military grade, etc. Keep your head in the sand, it's safe down there.

ReplyDeleteIts easy to give a statement without a plan. That is exactly what Sly's "get rid of illegal guns" is, a statement without a plan.
Answer the following questions, and intelligent people are willing to consider a proposal.
1. How does Sly plan to deal with the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution?
2.How does Sly plan to deal with the 15th and 23rd Amendments of the Missouri Constitution?
3. How does Sly plan to identify illegal guns?
4. What is the plan to remove these illegal guns?
Without a basic plan outlining how he would achieve his goal, then statements like "get rid of illegal guns" are nothing more than hot air. We need plans not words. I am pro-second amendment, but I am also pro-life. Give a coherent plan or answer to the above questions and reasonable people will consider it.

ReplyDeleteThat is the problem with Sly's statement, no one has any answers to the questions @ 8:57.
You can't just pretend like the Constitutions don't exist. If that is what Sly is proposing, then a whole host of bad things will happen. Slavery would become legal, voting would be restricted, indefinite detainment would flourish, AND we would get rid of guns.

It's safe to say 2014 crime numbers was due to an economic fluke. Of course, police and city folks have to capitalize on natural selection type outcomes but they cannot show substantive evidence (how they reached their conclusions).
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Tony: Thanks for posting this info. One relevant statistic: The record for one month homicide total was August 2008--20 homicides. By my count, we are now at 16 homicides in Sept. 2015--with one suspicious death being investigated today. If we do break the previous homicide record this September, it ought to cause people around the city to wake up to the reality of the city's continuing most serious crime problem. ReplyDeleteIts been a few years since I've cruised the Northeast area but I think I will tomorrow. During the day of course, I'm no dummie, I'll drive down 24 hwy (AKA the Avenue) take a walk around Bud Park, drive down St. Johns and maybe see the crime scene and ninth and Hardesty where that poor lady was in her van with all those kids and got caught up in a gang shooting, still sad to think about.
