Like it or not, the Taylor Swift concert was probably the highlight of this week in Kansas City because it brought a great many white women and their daughters downtown. Sadly, they didn't spend much cash outside of The Sprint Center because everything inside the loop closes up after 5:30 . . . Still, it was good for people watching.
One last tidbit from the concert . . . Check out Taylor Swift giving some pretty horrible advice to her adoring fans.
I'm not exactly sure but her words about generosity and trust sound like pretty good way to get date-raped given that this part of the country is exceptionally dangerous for young women.
Reality check: University Of Missouri Reports Third-Highest Rate Of Sexual Assault Among Students
This pop star is pretty, rich, vastly overrated and has a security detail and management team akin to a head of state . . . So it's easy for her to talk about trust and her life experience might not apply the general populace of young women living in an era when dating is dead and causal hookups via mobile phone tech rule the day.
Still, it's a nice look at even more rhetoric that doesn't really speak to the reality in Kansas City.
Hopefully, more for the morning update . . .
While I agree that Taylor Swift shouldn't be in charge of raising anyone else's daughter. Don't overlook the really nice things she said bout KC. You won't admit it TKC but a lot of celebrities say our city is one of the most hospitable.
ReplyDeleteThe day Tony can write a complete sentence (it brought a great man white women) without fucking it up is the day I MIGHT have an interest in his opinion.
ReplyDeleteRyan Adams' 1989 cover album is actually really good.
ReplyDeleteNot shittin' ya.
Not that the average Big and Rich listening rube in this town has any idea what good music sounds like.
@12:35 - You don't have an interest in Tony's opinion. Is that why you're reading his blog after midnight on a weekday?
ReplyDeleteTaylor Swift is the poor man's Olivia Newton John.
ReplyDeleteTaylor Swift is a good kid- and though she's rich, she actually takes the time to help people even though people don't really expect it from her or would even miss if she wasn't generous with her time and money. As for the inner loop, there families were spending money at places such as Consentino's and some of the restaurants around the P&L before and after the concert on both days.
ReplyDeleteI did Taylor Swift in the back of her tour bus. She promised to write a song about it.
ReplyDeleteI like Taylor Swift as is much better young performer then most of them.
ReplyDeleteHowever I will say she hasn't had a normal life and can't really speak to how someone should raise a kid and all.
Taylor Swift is a poor white man's lady gaga.
