Check this week in political chatter from the GOLD STANDARD in local discourse . . . Here's the latest episode of RUCKUS.
Description:
"Mike Shanin interviews KCMO City Councilwoman Katheryn Shields about her priorities in her return to the city council. Then Cynthia Wheeler, Steve Rose, Pat McInerney and Crosby Kemper III discuss the ongoing debate over the future of KCI, Rose's praise for Brownback policies and the early trend of political outsiders capturing voter approval."
Early in the interview . . . Things don't look good for VanLoh . . . He sounds like a marked man.

New airport is a wash. Shame on Sly for trying to revive it.
ReplyDeleteBRING BACK CHECK PLEASE.....PLEASE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRuckus is booooooorrrrrrrrrrring. Bunch of political hacks and trough-feeding consultants all jabbering at the same time.
ReplyDeletethe OLD STANDARD in local discourse
ReplyDeleteWord. TKC banned from Ruckus audience.
ReplyDelete8:49 -- Crosby Kemper is a "political hack" or a "trough-feeding consultant"?
ReplyDeleteTony had me believing he was a regular on Ruckus.
ReplyDeleteMust have been one of those INSIDERS.
I will continue to point out the OBVIOUS and BLATANT political charade known as RUCKUS.
ReplyDeleteWhile host Mike Shanin is amusing and witty, the producers of this program are evidently so entrenched in the Liberal Democrat camp, that they've once again fielded a panel of THREE Democrats to ONE Republican.
Cynthia Wheeler: Why is Ms. Wheeler on this program? I'm baffled! The cynic in me would say that she's one of the token minorities KCPT brings out to provide the illusion of diversity.....but then who knows? Do you notice when Ms. Wheeler speaks, her eyes are constantly searching the other panelist's faces for signs of disapproval (much like Mary Sanchez), afraid that she may have uttered an unapproved word off the Obama Administration supplied talking points?
Steve Rose: This suburban JoCo, former Sun Publications owner, is the prototypical well-to-do suburban armchair liberal. He's all for raising other people's taxes and enabling the welfare state, as long as they stay out of his neighborhood.
Pat McInerney: Democrat machine politics. Mr. McInerney is the type who should know better, but early on, bought into the tradition of KC Democratic Party Machine politics and doesn't have the guts to go straight. What's insidious about this type of operator is their malicious use of the poor and minorities while benefiting their politically connected friends and business associates.
Crosby Kemper III: You know he's of the Kemper banking family, and yet chose to pursue a life of scholarship and public service as director of the Kansas City Public Library. He's an outspoken advocate for education/library services/fair tax policy for all citizens. He's the rare individual who goes against the grain of their perceived stereotype.
......and we're STILL waiting on RUCKUS to invite Tony back on after only one appearance. Cowards.
With all due to respect to Mr. Shanin, KCPT needs to realize that their demographic is not just a collection of 50+ Waldo-Johnson Co types who would be still be watching Lawrence Welk given the chance. Rose and the rest of the "Old" guard types (nod to 8:58) need to be replaced by younger, brighter local minds who would actually challenge the clods fl-u king up our fair city.
ReplyDeleteWhat we see now is kind of.....well, to be honest toothless and painfully rooted in a narrow slice of our local politic.I turned the show off for good the last time that Yael character was on it.....like he is someone anyone could take seriously today.
10:49: On the plus side, Mary O was not on this week.
ReplyDeleteI liked it, made me happy in my pants.
