Kansas City Cyclist Vs. Old School Drivers

There are a lot of people who are diametrically opposed in Kansas City . . . Cops vs. Crooks, Hipsters Vs. Haters, Suburbanites Vs. Inner City, Westport Vs. P&L District, Mayor Sly James Vs. Democracy . . . HOWEVER . . .

THE FIGHT BETWIXT CYCLISTS AND OLD SCHOOL DRIVERS IS ONE OF THE MOST VICIOUS IN KANSAS CITY!!!

It's a classic collision betwixt world views and courtesy. While cars always win a fight with a bike . . . Amid the local discourse and municipal rules and regs . . . Cyclists have the upper hand as politicos mistakenly think it's popular to make life hard on commuters.

Here's bit more proof of our thesis and more reporting on a recent crash:

Cyclists seek safer roads after hit-and-run wreck
Police question driver who allegedly struck 62-year-old cyclist then kept going in Shawnee
Like it or not . . .

Nobody wins when old people hit cyclists so we hope everyone will share the road peacefully and leave the arguing about costly accommodation for hobbyists to the Internets . . . Where nobody wins or accomplishes anything a myriad of circular debate.

  1. Was dark and stupid fuck was probably riding in the middle of the road. Sorry he was hit but these bike riding jerks fucking think they own the roads and no laws apply to them.

  2. You're typical of the poorly educated people driving around here.

Bikers know the laws do apply to them: The laws give them every right to be on the roads that motorists have, with the exception of Interstate highways.

In most countries, getting a drivers license costs at least a couple thousand dollars because it requires many hours of driving under the supervision of an instructor. It's more like what it takes in America to get a pilots license. American drivers undergo only token learning and testing to get their licenses, with the possible exception of commercial truckers.

  3. Most bike riders I encounter are self absorbed freaking morons. Literally riding down the street as if they were riding on some back country road where one car if even that goes by every two hours.

Idiots - it's almost as if they are suicidal, eye's wide shut.

  6. Sing it: "Keep your eyes on the road, your hands upon the wheel."
It's inconsiderate and stupid, homicidal or suicidal even for drivers allowing distractions. Talking, texting, reaching for a dropped phone, or looking in the bag for that last fry is too dangerous.
    STOP IT !!!

This town's hayseed rube mentality always shines brightest on stories about cyclists being hit by cars.

  8. I dunno. I am kind of waiting for that story of Claire MC Krapskills ass meeting the bumper of a Mac truck.

  9. Bikers do not follow the rules of the road. They do not stop, signal or remain consistent in their status as bikers, choosing sometimes to flow pedestrian rules at random times.

  10. Save lives: Bikers should take the bus.

  11. News flash you pro bike assholes, I just about whacked out a bike rider about an hour ago at 72nd and Nall who decided to cut across the intersection at a 45 degree angle against the light as I was making a left turn. Lucky at the last second I saw him and stopped, so no bike riders do not always follow the law. I'm guessing he thought that red light didn't apply to him.

  12. Automobile drivers ALWAYS follow ALL the rules, guys, be real. I'm 47 and I have NEVER witnessed a driver not following traffic laws and regulations TO THE LETTER.

If I drove down the road at the speed that bicyclists ride I'd get a ticket to obstructing traffic. I also buy gas which pays for the roads through taxes. I pay taxes on my vehicle. I pay for insurance on my car. Bicyclists don't pay any of these things. I don't fight the bicyclists for space and just keep my irritation to myself. I think biking should be restricted to areas where the speed limit is 30 MPH or LESS, proof of insurance and register bikes just like cars. If you want to play you need to pay just like the big boys.

  14. Cycle excrement rarely obey the laws. They are total dickweeds. Roll at your own risk. Watch out for those extendable truck mirrors, that will bitch slap the fuck out of a cycle douche.

  15. I don't know what the answer is. There are a million arguments for and against. I get business done by bike daily, so you already know my stance and I won't waste anybody's time with pro-cycling logic.

The bottom line is this... You may not like people on bikes or the 5 or 10 seconds their presence on the road set you back. But you need to remember, cyclists are fellow human beings who have just as much of a right to be on the local roads as you have.

So, keep your eye's open and be aware of your surroundings at all times when you are operating your 4000-5000 lbs of road-rocket... and put your mf'n cell phones down. Please.
