Celebrate Meth Town Internets Winning

Quick upbeat Internets note from the Kansas City metro . . .

Examiner: "The city of Independence, which launched a revamped website in February, earlier this week won the 2015 Best of the Web Award for city government website."

Deets:

"Independence’s website was re-designed in-house by the city’s technology staff, with compatibility to any user device. According to a city press release it averages 85,000 unique visitors each month. The site also plays a large part in the city’s $38 million in annual online transactions, with about 30 percent of utility payments made online."

Meanwhile in KCMO . . .

- The City's website isn't as searchable as promised.

- The Wordpress format is EASILY hackable.

- The City's website is still divided into 3 different parts with the City Clerk's side of things running just like it did back in 2006.

- Unruly and mobile unfriedly PDFs rule the day when it comes to important details of city hall plans.

- Mayor and Council have stopped listing the controversial ordinances they sponsor and wait the last minute to release them only to one media source that owes them a $20 MILLION tax break.

To wit . . .

LIKE IT OR NOT, CITY HALL HAS BECOME DECIDEDLY LESS TRANSPARENT IN KANSAS CITY UNDER THE RULE OF MAYOR SLY!!!

Developing . . .
