As for the dirty accommodations, soccer player Alex Morgan is darn lucky that her team wasn't booked into the Westin Crown Center. Roaches in the food service areas, decrepit room furnishings, worn out linens and a terrible security department headed by an extremely lazy man. If the new convention hotel is ever built Crown Center can kiss the basement rats good bye!
Kansas City has too many hotel rooms for the amount of customer demand there is. Hotels that don't do enough business become problem hotels. We're going to fix that by bulding lots more hotel rooms at taxpayer expense.

ReplyDeleteCrown Center still has the same paint job it had in the 1980's. It needs to be completely gutted and remodeled. Cleanliness and details matter greatly to guests, and Crown Center doesn't seem to care.

There is no hotel glut in KC, there is a relative hotel shortage in the city. That is why PRIVATE companies are building hotels in the area. 5 or 6 new hotels I can think of. The convention hotel is a less than ideal proposal.

ReplyDeleteBut the folks you cite as working in the fields is a little misleading. My problem, and the problem many people I know have, with illegal immigartion is not so much the first generation immigrants who take the jobs you describe. The problem (and its tough and certainly politically incorrect to say this, but true none the less) is that these peoples children will not be occupying those same labor positions. They are going to school and educating themselves and taking white collar and higher paying jobs. So for every immigrant we let in to "do the jobs no one else wants", we are letting in a whole new lineage of folks that will be competing for the high-wage jobs with my children and the children of my children.
Sometimes I think both sides of an argument are a little short/one sided. And I will admit my position is a little harsh, and isn't a position I take lightly or without a great deal of thought and research.
Adams Mark problems start with NIGGERS.
