We've been talking a lot about crime over the Summer but not really focusing on proposed solutions and how neighborhood outreach works as part of community policing strategy.
Northeast News offers the latest look at this Kansas City tactic in action:
Group wants to help COMBAT crime in Northeast
Deets:
"COMBAT funds programs and organizations throughout Jackson County to help neighborhoods combat drugs and violence and provide education and treatment options to residents. The Northeast neighborhood was selected based on crime statistical data. This was the last canvassing event COMBAT conducted this summer."
Now that election season is over, most politicos don't want much involvement in this kind of grassroots work . . . Still, locals might want to ask themselves if this kind of work is effective or if it simply perpetuates and industry of advocacy.
You decide . . .
COMBAT is a massive failure.
ReplyDeleteIt simply provides jobs for grifters who otherwise would be working at the Water Dept or the DMV.
Drive down 435 at 90mph, roll down the windows and throw money out of the vehicle. That's how effective COMBAT money is utilized.
The proof is in the results. NADA !
Want to help?
ReplyDeleteRun the NIGGERS and the MEXCREMENT out of da hood and things will improve dramatically. That's the only effective thing that can be done.
Who cares where they go. How about to their graves? Let's reclaim America.
Are those Eggplants in the picture Albino Eggplants?
ReplyDeleteIt's too late! The Civil Society is collapsing. And you can thank "The Progressives".
ReplyDelete7:25 has it exactly right.
ReplyDeleteCOMBAT spends around $15-20 million a year and has been around for decades.
It was sold as an anti-drug/drug treatment program, but like most large unaccountable pots of tax money, has morphed into paying for pretty much anything that anyone can convince the little band of insiders to fund. Without any accountability for results whatsoever.
Much of the crime and homicides is drug-related and the crime, violence, and homicides have decreased virtually not at all in all the years since many tens of millions of COMBAT dollars have disappeared into thin air.
Just another make-work jobs program for insiders, activists, grifters, and the endless list of "nonprofits" that roam the halls of KCMO city hall and the Jackson Count Courthouse.
Take a look at the list of recipients on the COMBAT website and ask yourself what you're getting for YOUR money.
ReplyDeleteCOMBAT had done NOTHING of value or substance.
They are truly a joke. Like putting on a very expensive bandaid on a shotgun wound. The Black Community won't turn in Crooks & Killers. Period. It's a "cultural" hallmark.
Besides, who needs COMBAT when we have Alonzo the Great!?!?!
When my block had a drug dealer on it last year COMBAT would do NOTHING to help. We have a trouble house with gang activity going on in plain sight on the block and numerous calls to police, neighborhood groups and COMBAT result in nothing changing.
ReplyDelete806 you forgot to point out the true beneficiaries of these programs. They are police welfare. Yes grifters get money. But look at the finances and see programs like this go straight to cops pockets. Of duty, overtime, special programs..... The most interesting report I can think of would be how much cops make on top of their salary. You'd be surprised what some cops on the inside are taking home. And they can't do their job, they collect this money while doing the least amount of work possible.
ReplyDeleteNortheast = Hell Hole
ReplyDeleteGood points by both 8:06 and 8:31, and both of which raise a most important question:
ReplyDeleteWhere is the oversight from the County executive and legislature?
This is tax money that has been wasted for many year and it gets about as much attention from the people who are most responsible as the terrible assessment/tax operation.
And both problems year after year after year.
There seem to be lots of contractors and consultants being hired by the county to address who knows what. Maybe some attention to basics should move up the priority list.
Or was the Mafia guys call them: melanzana, which is Italian for eggplant.
ReplyDeleteCombat is just another waste of taxpayer money. Why can't we just fund education and law enforcement without earmarking in political and wasteful ways in this country?
ReplyDelete1149 we give the police 47%of or money, bit they want more. In reality after these types of programs, consulting companies owned by cops/ex cops, federally funded initiatives, and various other programs, you'd be astonished how much money the PD and connected officers get. It's nearly equivalent to 70%of the total budget. Yet they are utter failures, working for themselves and not accomplishing very much. The best word for this is welfare. Kc is the welfare city. Second highest corporate welfare in the country, massive government welfare via federal jobs, and police welfare that rivals that of cities twice our size. Even the most basic of research will make your stomach turn.
DeleteBut the police say they need more. Its all a lie, they are just an unaccountable, money pit.
There are undeniable facts that exist when you put a bureaucrat on the tax payer payroll:
ReplyDelete1) A bureaucrat will work his ass off to figure out how to make his job easier.
2) Bureaucrats always see their job as an administrative function designed to find ways to get the tax payers to do more of their jobs.
3) Bureaucrats can not stand the concept that they exist to serve the public.
4) Bureaucrats measure their significance in terms of how much money they control and how they can build a bigger, more powerful agency.
5) Any time they can help create or participate in promoting more bureaucracy they will be considered an asset to the existing bureaucracy.
!?
ReplyDeleteCombat is a colossal boondoggle for Rev Tindall. He runs the whole thing out of his bogus Jackson County Housing Department with the help of Jim Nunnelly. Stacy Daniels is a hot mess. Maybe her back pain is too much for her?
Jim Kanatzar allowed Mike Sanders to move Combat from the Jackson County Prosecutor's office to the County Executive's office. And then it all went to hell!
Now how in the world can Rodney Bland get paid with Combat funds from FEC?
Now for the joke set up... Cathy Jolly oversees Jim Nunnelly!
Here a drug dealer, there a drug dealer. Every where a drug dealer. Old McSanders had a scam, ei ei o!
12:56 The real joke is that NO ONE knows what the hell you are talking about. And why is that? Because we have worthless journalists and a neutered media. If they would EVER do a SINGLE piece of worthwhile journalism this city would be far better off. To that extent even TKC sucks. Don't get me wrong, he does get some cool stories. But he is afraid of asserting his first amendment rights as a member of the press. That or he is too lazy. But the real blame falls on the Star and Pitch and each of the broadcast stations.
