TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDERS DON'T WANT VOTERS STICKER SHOCKED OVER LAGUARDIA 4 BILLION OVERHAUL!!!

Redeveloping airports across the nation is the new hotness for politicos looking to spike economic activity in an otherwise stagnant economy for the disappearing middle-class. This phenomena offer Kansas City a sneak peek @ what's in store for the new KCI.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS DON'T WANT PUBLIC TO COMPARE EPIC LAGUARDIA $4 BILLION OVERHAUL TO KANSAS CITY'S NEW AIRPORT SCHEME!!!

Still, the comparison might be apt for a few reasons . . .

- Laguardia was roughly the same size as Kansas City International Airport . . .

- We're talking apples to apples modern day American construction which varies slightly from region to region by millions but not BILLIONS.

- Laguardia was actually more upfront with their costs . . . KANSAS CITY OFFICIALS HAVE REFUSED TO OFFER THE VOTING PUBLIC A SOLID ESTIMATE OF THE COSTS!!!

And so . . .

Here a few links to remind locals that building a new airport is a project that's going to cost BILLIONS that won't all be passed on to the consumer . . . City Hall and taxpayers will have to pick up a great deal of the tab:

  1. Got to keep our top heavy engineering and architectural firms afloat before all other needs. I guess the only positive is at least we're not rebuilding Baghdad International.

  4. I think I am beginning to get you Tony. You are angry because your "I am against anything other than pot hole repair" is not reflected by anyone in a position of public policy authority.

By old boss referred to auditors as people who watched the battle from the hill, then came down and killed all the injured after the fight was over. Your blog is taking on that type of approach.

The problem is, you don't move the metaphorical needle one inch when it comes to influencing policy outcomes. Instead to people saying, "tony might have a valid point of view here", they immediately connect you with angry, hateful rhetoric and someone who whines endlessly when the public debate is over.

It's not that hard to collect a phantom and anonymous group of "denizens" who are toxic in tone and attitude. Problem is, they are easily dismissed through the ease of predicting their point of view.

In a couple of weeks, you will start blogging about how Straight out of Compton has some tie to Kansas City. It will get you your requisite comments and hits, none of which will be unexpected, productive, or thoughtful. Then bitching about the Royals not winning the WS, the light rail, the airport, The Star, and marathons will ensue.

I used to follow you pretty regularly during the Cauthen days when you were actually promoting a discussion that otherwise would not occur. Sincerely, it just about whining now.

The good news, I guess, is that the 2015 world does not financially support these types of efforts. Although, Paul Blart/Mall Cop 2 does give me pause.

So, here you go. One more (albeit, less frequent) hit. But there will always be sightings of "libtards", Bear, and mean comments from people in response to pics of attractive females, to fill your blog until you do it all again tomorrow. Then the day after, and the day after that.

  5. "Laguardia was roughly the same size as Kansas City International Airport"

Plus he blatantly lies, 8:38. He lies the way a nigger lies. This one isn't even close to being true.

  6. We need a new airport! For the millennials who just want a internet connection and a convenient place to get their 3:00 AM kale munchies!

  7. Not many serious residents are against progress, but there's an element of seriousness and maturity in setting priorities and making decisions that's badly missing with Sly and the gang.
If you take some kids to Disneyland, they think that Sleeping Beauty's castle is actually an enchanted magical place. But the folks who run Disneyland understand that actually it's a very large complex building that's very expensive to operate, maintain, and improve. If the theme park management has the same view as the kids, Disney and its stockholders are likely to have major problems.
The KCMO elected folks behave like children visiting Disneyland.
It also would be helpful to construct thoughtful plans that can be explained honestly to the public who will end up paying for them. Some people will like the plan, while others will be opposed, but at least everyone will actually know what the facts are.
In KCMO the public is constantly forced to try to guess which shell the pea's under.
    Leadership that's not.

  8. 8:38 you are wrong. Tony does not fill his blog with attractive females. He gives equal time to the ugly broads too like Crystal, TRG, and aging Cindy and much more picture time to the ugliest broad of them all: Claire McCaskill. That woman is so ugly, I don't think even Ron Jeremy could get hard for her. For every Jordan, there are 3 Crystal picture and for every Tessa Fowler, there are more TRG and Cindy pictures and there are enough Candice Swanepoel pictures ever taken to cancel out 1 Claire picture. The pretty girls help clean our visual pallet after all the picture of the "Girl Power" ugly broads.

  9. The difference between LaGuardia and KCI is that LaGuardia services a major city. LaGuardia is named after New York City's greatest mayor, Fiorello H. La Guardia, who was known for his honesty and for ridding NYC of a corrupt political machine that had ruled it for years. So, if they build the new airport in the same tradition as LaGuardia, I doubt if it will be named the Sylvester James or Emanuel Cleaver or Kay Barnes International Airport.

  10. Request clearance to land at Sly James International......Just doesn't quite sound right, huh?

  13. The sorry fact is that if you could engineer a safe ILS approach to runway 1 downtown, we could close MCI today and no one would know the difference. From airnav.com. Average flight operations per day: LaGuardia 1013, Minneapolis/St. Paul 1181, Des Moines 209, Omaha 267, Kansas City Int. 351, Wheeler Downtown 190.

  14. "- Laguardia was roughly the same size as Kansas City International Airport . . ."

LaGuardia is much busier than MCI (see 2:11 post), the new terminal they've shown has 60+ gates, MCI only has 40 or so.

"- We're talking apples to apples modern day American construction which varies slightly from region to region by millions but not BILLIONS."

Engineering News-Record Construction Cost Index for NYC is 16283.45 while the same index in KC is 10948.18 (Construction Cost Index includes construction materials and local union wage rates), which means that for a given project it will cost 48.7% more to construct in NYC than KC, so that knocks $4 billion down to $2.7 billion right there, then it will be smaller and I'm pretty sure MCI will not include some features of LaGuardia like a ferry terminal and probably not even a rail link.

  15. Ferry terminal? Man, them Gay people get all the perks!

I have a gay cousin who went to New York and boy was he pissed when he found out the Staten Island Ferry was a boat.

  16. I have flown out of LaGurdia thousands of times KCI hundred of time. Give me Lagurdia any day. It doesn't cost 100.00 Taxi Ride to visit the city.
