Kansas City Fair Wage Fight Fact Check

The KC Biz Journal attempts to hold politicos accountable for their statements as they're quickly changing their tune:

Money quote:

Currently, Missouri's law on raising the minimum wage is fairly cut and dry: "No municipality ... shall establish, mandate or otherwise require a minimum wage that exceeds the state minimum wage."

The biz newspaper has a couple more questions about the minimum wage but none more important than the simple fact that it's not allowed by Missouri law.

  1. The City Council should pass an increase at the very least as message that workers are being unfairly taken advantage of. In fact every city in Missouri and Kansas should do the same.

  2. You know, I was just thinking, what should KC do with the excess money it has? Infrastructure improvements? Add to public safety and the police force? Improved public transit? New airport terminal?

Nope. Legal fees. I think we should give the money to the city attorneys so they can spend it fighting to keep a law that is illegal and unenforceable (which will be more attorney fees). Viva las lawyers!

  3. Don't forget 2016 is an election year and the AG Koster will side with those who will support him. If the city passes it he will probably ignore state law.

  4. Raise prices of items, people won't buy them. Raise wages reducing profits, owners will cut hours and/or employees. The bottom line will be protected.

  5. Pass an ordinance that is known to be illegal - what message does that send to the state? Pass an ordinance that will cost jobs and businesses in KCMO - what message does that send to economic development?

Loss opportunities - legal fees - that is taking advantage of voters.

  6. Sly and crew are officially entering the trial by fire stage.

  7. Hey, Sly is a lawyer, will he be doing this work for free for KC?

  8. If your over 23 and still working fast food there are two reasons.

No.1, your a moron who can't get a better job. No one wants to hire you because your not bright, your lazy and can't multiply 10 x 10.

    And..

No. 2, your wasted every opportunity that the greasiest country in the world provided. You have little to no education. You had a baby, maybe more out of wedlock. You went to prison. You waisted countless hours doing drugs, ect.

Most people over 23 and who still work fast food are losers. Why should the government sward you for being a loser?
