Coming Soon: Kansas City Special Elections And Gov. Jay Nixon Ethics Reform Amid Downfall Of Disgraced Missouri Democrats!!!

Two important things from Gov. Jay's office for this Tuesday . . .

Once again we must endure talk of ethics reform even though we all know that Jeff City pretty much operates like Spring Break: Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon says Missouri's ethics laws need to be revamped in light of accusations that led to the resignations of two state lawmakers this year.

And then a call for Kansas City metro special elections that don't include the LeVota seat - There's a really good rumor that one might stay empty for awhile . . . One reason is that Gov. Jay's people know that the LeVota's still hold a great deal of influence over the Jackson County Democratic Committee and anybody they nominate would be a strong LeVota ally . . .

Jackson County Democratic Committee Committed to Transparent Nominating Process & Ensuring Democratic Nominees Win on November 3rd in Special Election

This afternoon Missouri Governor Jay Nixon called for special elections to fill the vacancies in House District 29 (Jackson County & part of Kansas City) and House District 36 (Kansas City). The Jackson County Democratic Committee is committed to ensuring a transparent special election nominating process for the Democratic nominees.

"The Jackson County Democratic Committee is prepared to wage full campaigns to ensure the Democratic nominees win these elections for House District 29 and House District 36 on November 3rd," said Chairman, Tom Wyrsch. "Both districts are competitive districts for Democrats, and we cannot let these districts be won by Republicans. It is important that we make sure that Democrats come out to vote on November 3rd."

With less than 3 months to start campaigns, please consider making a donation to the Jackson County Democrats to help wage vibrant campaigns and ensure that Democrats win these seats.

To ensure a fully Democratic process, we'd like to share the following information about the nominating process:

There will be no primary election. Per Missouri statutes and Missouri Democratic Party bylaws, all elected county committee members who represent a ward or township that is at least partially within the 29th or 36th House District will form these nominating committees that will nominate the Democrats to appear on the ballot. For District 36, the members who compose the nominating committee are the committeemen and committeewomen from Wards 10, 19, 20, 22, 25, and 26. For District 29, the members who compose the nominating committee are the committeemen and committeewomen from Blue Township Sub District's 5, 7, and 8, Ward 23, Ward 24, and Brooking. Our current committee members are found on our website here. We also have a resources webpage to help locate relevant state statutes and state party bylaws here. Our office will act as a resource for any questions that come up during the nominating process. The Chair of the respective legislative district committees, or in their absence the Vice-Chair or the Chair of the County Committee, will call and hold the nominating committee meetings within two weeks of being notified of the special election; they obligated to notify each member of the nominating committee of the time and place of the meeting. The Jackson County Democratic Committee will help ensure this process is transparent for the public.

  1. Easy one governor. Lets require all elected officials to pass the same screening as police officer candidates. That should not be asking for much given the authority, access to public trust and responsibilities and duty in general.

  3. The Guv CANNOT call and election for LeVota's seat until he actually resigns. He has said he will do so on 8/23, giving the GUV two days to call an election. But, sayin' ain't doin'.

  4. LeVotas have all the votes for the 29th and they will pick that person.

  5. The governor has accepted LeVota's resignation. There is no reason the governor shouldn't be calling for that senate seat to be filled. Jay Nixon is playing politics with the people of that district and that's not fair. They need representation but Jay doesn't care. He could have called an election for the 29th seat 7 months ago.

  6. Hey governor, the law is that the elected members of the democratic county committee make the appointment in vacancies for their party to run and you know that. It is not the LeVotas controlling anything illegally. It is the people of the committee voting. If the LeVotas have influence on them, it's just like anyone else having influence on elected officials; lobbyists, other elected officials, labor, special interests, etc..
It's our democratic process. Why do they have to be bad guys for getting people to join the democratic party and get involved?

  7. To 6:08: The GUV CAN call for the special election in the senate now. He has the notification for the vacancy. The election won't be until November. He can call for it now and give the committee time to vote. The House candidates must be decided by September 15 so no reason the senate seat can't do the same.

  8. The Jackson County Democratic Committee will help ensure this process is transparent for the public? That's a joke.

  9. The democratic committee is packed with LeVota people. They should be removed and then the candidate chosen.

  10. LeVota boys won't be able to manipulate the senate seat election because the governor won't call the election and filing starts in February. Bye bye, groppy Paul and Phil the rapest. Jeff City has had enough of your two fuckers.
