Court Showdown Approaches For Kansas City Activist Toni Bones
I am taking the same stance I have had with the "tire planters" and "show me your papers" stop. This is the fourth time I've refused a plea deal or support criminals with my federal reserve notes. I insist on doing something productive for society such as community service. I do not wish to but I will sit in a cage before giving my family's already scarce resources away towards funding the police state which will literally allocate those funds towards aggressing against my community.
No victim, no crime.
This time around however two amazing members of our community have stepped up and taken a stand against tyranny. Molly Hastings and Keith O'Connor have offered their support by volunteering to represent me pro bono. Admittedly, I was pretty traumatized and disgusted that AN INDEPENDENCE JUDGE tried to keep me incarcerated until June 2 on non moving traffic tickets. I was tempted to just pay the fines...
But when I thought about the support from across the country from people who believed in what I stood for, including some of the best defense attorneys in Kansas City... Well, I remembered who I was and what I stood for... and would be disrespecting myself and those who stood by me when I felt more alone than I can articulate...
They will also be representing me for my date with the rude man in a black dress in independence for the non moving violations I was kidnapped and caged for in April. THIS INDEPENDENCE JUDGE isn't a big fan of mine but frankly, the feeling is mutual.
This Monday I stand up to the judicial system hoping for some reason and sanity. Peaceful people do not belong in cages.
No victim, no crime...
no plea deal.

I admire Toni Bones very much because she puts her views right out there and doesn't mind defending or explaining her viewpoints. I really hope they don't lock her up for a minor moving violation. I guess what Toni is trying to bright to light here is that many people face this same kind of time and they're just forced into submission. During my last visit, I notice that local police in KC were much more hesitant to give people tickets and let a lot of folks off with a warning because they know the damage that even a slight fine can do to poor people's lives. What Toni is doing is brave and I wish her the best. I know not all of your readers agree but she is doing activism on the real grassroots level and is not afraid to put herself on the line.
You have to admire that to say the least.
Don't do or commit the crime if you can't do the time or pay fine it's as simple as that.

ReplyDeleteHate to say it but I agree with Chuck again. She is doing an admirable thing but she's putting her kids at risk, that is unacceptable or at least not for some minor point like this one. Toni, you can fight the system outside of jail with your family. Find some other story to support other than YOUR OWN. Life is not performance art, do the right thing for your kids and swallow your pride.
