TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY LOW VOTER TURNOUT TRANSLATES INTO MORE PETITION POWER!!! DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL CONFRONTATION COMING SOON!!!

Most Kansas City residents didn't vote but that means that those of use who are actually paying attention and participating in the process have a lot MORE POWER.

To wit . . .

THE KANSAS CITY PETITION AGAINST THE DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL IS ALREADY OFF TO A STRONG START AND MIGHT SOON SMACK DOWN MAYOR SLY'S SCHEME TO RAM IT HOME BEFORE THE NEW COUNCIL TAKES OFFICE!!!

First, a word from a behind the scenes insider on the process . . .

"Please find an additional smack-down to the Mayor and his continual attempt at destroying our local economy with things no one wants except developers, architects, attorneys, engineers and the bankers that finance these things and, of course, the politicians that are rewarded for their handing over our money under the guise of "economic development".

"It is the petition that requires that if a city official wishes to give away our tax-dollars, like for a new convention hotel, they must, at the very least, put it to the vote of the people.

"Please recognize that they will ignore our vote and our desire to not get ripped off, as they have with the Street Car fiasco, but at least they'll be forced to be slightly more upfront about their desire to screw us.

"If anyone wants to sign and print the petition, pages 1 & 2 must be double sided (on one piece of paper) to be "official"."

The money line from the petition . . .

THE UNDERSIGNED, being lawfully registered voters of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, request that Ordinance No. 150357 be repealed and that Chapter 2, Article II, Code of Ordinances of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, be amended to enact a new Section 2-73 entitled “Developing, financing, constructing, and operating downtown convention center headquarters hotels” to require voter authorization before the City or any of its officers or agents may execute any agreement with any party to develop, finance, construct, or operate any downtown convention center headquarters hotel. A copy of the proposed ordinance is attached.

Here's a look at petition in it's entirety!!!

Now . . .

WHAT WE HEAR IS THAT PETITIONS ARE MOVING FORWARD AT RECORD SPEED AND THE LAST REMAINING KANSAS CITY VOTERS ARE EAGER TO STOP MAYOR SLY'S CONVENTION HOTEL FIASCO!!!

And once again we see that a "paper champion" of a low voter turnout electorate is losing power by the moment and desperately clinging to one last scheme before he has to contend with a new, ambitious city council.

Developing . . .

4PM meeting at City Hall addressing the collective fear from this petition and grief from this petition.

Plus, it's on Tony's TKC, so it must reflect the will of the citizens!

    Sure Tony.

  4. How is this going to change anything?
The Power and Light/Sprint Center boondoggle was on the ballot, and it passed.

  5. I won't be staying there if they let niggers in! I saw the aftermath of a nigger nesting at a local hotel. I went to visit my brother and take his kids to see the Royals, and while we were there the hotel room a few down from his was having the furniture taken out of it. As we were leaving they were taking out the mirror, or pieces of a mirror from the room and I jokingly asked if they knew about the seven years of bad luck.

The manager, an Indian human, took that as a cue to tell me all about what happened. With atleast two niggers taking stuff out of the room he started telling me about how the nigger in the room had stayed there for over six months, and checked out the day before and when house keeping went in to clean up the room they found 2 liter pepsi bottles full of piss, and the toilet was clogged so they just started shitting in the trash cans, tying the bags and tossing them in cabinets. He said the room was so disgusting that he may have to move the people on either side of that room out to fumigate it. The furniture was all trashed, and broken. The walls were written on and had holes in them, and the fridge was full of spoiled "nigger chow" as he put it. He can't prove it, but based on the way the closet looked and had a fair amount of potting soil in it, he thinks they were growing weed in the "closet" area.

I asked him what he could do about it, and he said all he could do was keep their 50 dollar deposit and try to file a lawsuit, but that he would probably just have to write it off since those lawsuits are time consuming and normally you don't get enough back to cover the cost of damages. "Fucking niggers", was all he could say at that point. Well now house keeping isn't optional, you have to let the maids in once a week if for nothing else than to inspect the room. Just another example of a nigger fucking up the honor system, prior to this you could completely opt out of house keeping and just use them like small apartments. The icing on the cake is they left in the middle of the night, and had the gall to leave a note in the room telling him where he could mail the deposit refund.

  7. What we need to see is a partition that sets a dollar amount and/or aggregate dollar amount to projects in general. Otherwise you end up playing Bill Clinton semantics.

  9. Other City's seem to be able to spend $40 million for nice hotel here and there without taxpayer subsidies. $300 Million for one hotel? WTF is going on here? And that is ugliest freaking building I've ever laid eyes also while we are on the subject.

Taxpayers are on the hook big time

    ReplyDelete
  12. It's not speculation and gambling for the elected folks making the decisions without any regard to serious and realistic business and financial analyses.
It's buying political sustainability by funneling hundreds of millions of taxpayers' money to developers, attorneys, construction firms, bond attorneys, and all the other folks who contribute to campaigns and will again in the future.
And it's buying popularity with the downtowners and millenials, most of the latter of which are renters and will be long gone when they age a couple years, discover they're not all going to be entrepreneurs or smart phone app billionaires, and settle into life in the leafy suburbs north of the river.
And the decades of debt is all yours!

  14. KCFD rescue ladders reach is ______ feet? During fires, if the stair access is not smokey, and the elevators are fine, the tenth floor and above is no great concern some may believe.

Fire and smoke is devilish and in an instant destruction mounts. No way am I ever getting a room above the fifth or sixth floors--it depends on lobby and room heights. Seventyfive feet up is high enough and within the ladder range, if they make it in time!

  18. This is "Whack-a-Mole", Kansas City style. We whacked down public funding for private hospital research(86 to 14). We whacked down the streetcar expansion (60 to 40). Now they want to ram another boondoggle up our asses without even giving us a vote on it. They are going to try and push this through before Dan Coffey's petition is turned in. Because they know what the outcome of a ballot vote would be.
It is all about forcing public dollars into private hands and nothing else.
