Tech review site offers just a bit more hype on a headline generating partnership that mostly inovles overpaying for dated gimmicks with big name companies: "Connected streetlamps and tourist terminals are just a few of the things the new partnership will bring to the city."Kansas City gets smarter thanks to Cisco and Sprint - CNET

All the most recent articles on this "Smart City" deal have excluded disgraced Think Big CEO Herb Payday Sih.
ReplyDeleteThe fact remains Think Big is still going to be sucking up everyone's data downtown to "share" with entrepreneurs and whoever else can afford it or wants it.
It was Sih who set up the Cisco deal before Sly even knew how to tweet.
Just how smart can a light be? Obviously a lot smarter than the city fathers.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that they even need street lights in downtown KCMO. With the huge crowds of people on the sidewalks, searchlights piercing the sky, trillions of dollars pouring into town from conventions and tourists, and free cutting-edge urban transit about to start, you would think all that energy would light up the whole world.
ReplyDeleteOf course, we were downtown last night and you could have fired a cannon down Main Street and not hit a single person or vehicle.
I'm beginning to think that Sly and his PR flacks at the Star have been feeding us a line!
