Aftermath: Kansas City 1st District Council Race Moves Forward After Lackluster Campaign From Old School Kansas City
There's not gonna be a recount in the 1st District.
In fact, more than any other part of Kansas City this contest reveals that politics is changing in this town and possibly getting more Conservative near the edges.
A quick note about practicality . . .
IN A LOW TURNOUT ELECTION NEGATIVE CAMPAIGNING DOESN'T WORK AND IN FACT AXIOM PUSHED DICK DAVIS INTO THE PRIMARY BY HELPING RAISE HIS NAME ID!!!
All of the ranting about a vague connection to sketchy Missouri suicides and GOP name calling didn't seem to matter so much to Northland voters because in the end they chose Heather Hall who was the most conservative of all the 1st District contenders. Clearly, the newspaper attack on the GOP, Axiom and all of their slate wasn't as effective as this lady candidate simply walking around her neighborhood and talking to people every day . . . Something that none of the other candidates in the race wanted to humble themselves to do.
Again, if the newspaper attacks against Axiom were really effective . . . Then Dick Davis would be in the driver's seat and not just hanging on to reelection hopes by a thread.
Meanwhile, TKC simply notes voter apathy all over Kansas City and a horrible mistake by Axiom that misjudged how much locals care about this election (barely) and accidentally served to push an opponent over the top.

ReplyDeleteOh no, 9:16, Dick Davis has something to do with jobs. He gets his good friend and campaign consultant Jim Rice fat city contracts damn near every year. So that's a job he creates! Paid for with your tax dollars.
