SHAME!!! RAMPANT VIOLENT CRIME SURGE CONTINUES IN TREACHEROUS SOUTH KANSAS CITY RUSKIN HEIGHTS HOTSPOT!!!

Violent South Kansas City crime continues as longtime residents lament the current state of their community.

Moreover . . .

SINCE THE SLAYING OF ANGEL HOOPER SOUTH KANSAS CITY'S RUSKIN HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD HAS BEEN OVERWHELMED WITH A SPATE OF VIOLENCE!!!

A recent carjacking at gunpoint confirms the trend and inspires this bit of reporting.

KSHB: Ruskin Heights residents say they're surrounded by violent crime

Deets:

"It was 2012 when KCMO's South Patrol Station moved two and a half miles away. Locals have noticed the lack of presence.

"The police presence out here is definitely not enough. Every time we report something it takes two or three hours for an officer to come out and look at the property," said another rental property owner on Corrington who would like to remain anonymous.

"According to the real estate app, Trulia, there have been more than 40 crimes committed in the past month in Ruskin Heights, a half dozen of them violent.

"Ruskin Heights covers less than one square mile."

This community was never one of KC's richest but it was a strong working class enclave that now seems to feel abandoned as most of the focus of this town is concentrated on development schemes inside the loop and the toy train streetcar line.

Developing . . .

  1. Is South Patrol still on Hickman Mills drive? That's about 2 miles away from the heights, great response times!

  2. I grew up in Ruskin Heights.

It was a post WWII ranch house paradise for vets and their families to raise good kids and look forward to a bright future. Our doors were unlocked, there were no fences and our pets ran free. I played baseball hundreds of times at Ruskin Park on Ruskin Way.

We knew all the neighbors and most of the people on most blocks. I stayed there until I was drafted, my parents lived there until my mother died after I came home.

My dad said the neighborhood was becoming dangerous and he was moving. I am glad he did.

Ruskin's Pax Romana has come to an end.

    1. My early childhood was in Ruskin Heights. Friendly, down to Earth families.

      And then it was ruined.

  7. It is spreading north. They are infecting North Kansas City, Riverside and Gladsone and they used to be many many years ago, sundown towns. Some are starting to migrate north as far as Smithville. They are worse than the baboons or the merekats.

I know my people do not own any land there but they could still build a 24-acre police fort there - some way, some how I'll find a way to make development money off of it. My ministry ain't what it used to be or ever was and I've had to look into other endeavors for cash, despite the church paying for my house and gold teeth. Let the church say Amen.

  10. Tony, look at the demographics of that area for the last 20 years, even the last 10.

Just like Indian Springs Mall, Bannister Mall, it's in the demographics.....people will say that's racist, but the facts support it.

Look at how many shootings have happened at and near 107th & Blue Ridge. Then look at those that have been charged or convicted in those cases.

It does not take a scientist to figure it out!

  11. Build a big fence! Probably a moat also, watch crime plummet.

  12. To answer 11:11 am's question, the police station moved north to Marion Drive and Bannister.
