TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY POLITICO KATHERYN SHIELDS EXPLAINS HER COMEBACK AND COUNTS ON FAIRNESS FROM VOTING PUBLIC!!!
Thanks to the power of this
But last night we couldn't help but be impressed with her confidence and swagger as she rolled into the Citizens Association meeting with a smile on her face and a plan to win the 4th District.
To wit . . .
CHECK THIS QUICK EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH KATHERYN SHIELDS EXPLAINING HER COMEBACK AND HOPING FOR FAIRNESS FROM KANSAS CITY VOTERS!!!
Now, since our breaking news Ms. Shields has talked about her plan but it was a good place to start a brief line of questioning:
Katheryn Shields said she was motivated to run for 4th district at-large because: "Getting involved in civic issues like planning issues in the Plaza and Midtown. I have really become very concerned about the lack of planning in Kansas City, Missouri. You cannot be a great city if you do not have a great planning Department."
More importantly . . .
KATHERYN SHIELDS HOPES TO OVERCOME ANY LINGERING VOTER ANTIPATHY FROM HER SOMEWHAT TROUBLED JACKSON COUNTY TENURE!!!
Let's not forget . . .
She faced fed prosecution, she was involved in a convoluted driver controversy and the entire legislature was revolting against her during the last days of her time @ Jackson County.
Still, this local lady power broker seems confident and bold . . . Which is just damn impressive and we like her tricycle that she's using to nurse and ailing leg. Anyhoo, here's here money quote:
Katheryn Shields said: "I think the public is eminently fair. I think they will judge me based on also what I'm offering to do in the future. I don't think I can ask for anything more . . ."
Strangely, she's right and we noticed that the denizens of the CA seemed to welcome her with open arms and she earned more than a few smiles and handshakes from a curious crowd last night.
Developing . . .
Better title: katy comeback rolls thru kcmo.
ReplyDeleteThis old bladder has no business with an elective office. She's a stinking crook and it been proven. ...
ReplyDeleteIf Jackson county legislature was upset by her, she did something right
ReplyDeleteShe is a stellar example of public service!
ReplyDeleteAs long as her agenda doesn't involved dirty tricks and stealing taxpayer money she may do okay.
ReplyDeleteFairness has nothing to do with this.
ReplyDeleteWhat's required are amnesia and cluelessness.
Fortunately for her, KCMO voters exhibit both on a regular basis.
I agree with Ms. Shields on one thing:
ReplyDelete"I have really become very concerned about the lack of planning in Kansas City, Missouri. You cannot be a great city if you do not have a great planning Department."
She's spot on here.
City's Planning Department is filled with people who neither understand planning nor have many, if any, credentials supporting positive planning and growth for the City. The City Plan Commission should be and is by statute an independent body from the City but is used to further political whim, which was never the legal intent.
It makes Kansas City one of the most corrupt places to live. Several of the City Plan Commissioners don't even have college degrees, no credentials in planning and little other expertise other than the Mayor really liked these folks when they were appointed.
Kathy Shields hits it out of the park on this subject. It's worse than she's described. City's Planning Department and City Plan Commission are in disaster mode. The Board of Zoning isn't far behind as they are top-heavy with attorney appointments. It's all bad, unbalanced and unchecked.
#blightmekc
if things were really fair, we'd have better candidates.
ReplyDeleteNO I have not forgotten your attitude and methods and hopefully the rest of Jackson County hasn't either. VOTE for anyone except Kathryn Shields.
ReplyDeleteOld Cankles is back!
ReplyDeleteShe intending to replace Cokethea?
ReplyDeleteShe's running 4th district you idiot.
ReplyDeleteAnd Kathryn the great will win!
She is running at-large.
ReplyDeleteShe left the county budget in such excellent shape -- certainly we should be fair.
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree with 12:02. When Katheryn was Jackson County Executive my checks for property tax, which were mailed in December, had not been cashed by the following March. I called and asked if they'd been received. They said they didn't know. I told them I'd mailed the checks and hadn't got them back. They said they were still processing the checks, but if they hadn't received them, that was my problem, and I'd have to pay the penalties. Fortunately they did eventually get processed, but really! The county should be able to process checks in less than three months. At least since Mike Sanders has been in office those checks clear in a matter of days.
ReplyDeleteWho is the freak standing behind the pile of shit?
