ReplyDeleteI actually agree with the Cerner head and UMB head. Johnson County pretty much offers everything a civilized human desires. This City Council and Mayor have lost focus of whats important to the people of this City. All the eco-devo schemes in the world wont mean one thing without people to patronize the venues. City thinks big conventions will land anywhere near Kansas City, they are mistaken. There is nothing here. Remove the philanthropic community and Kansas City is just another po-dunk town. Big money always gets their way. Cerner has enough money to fund a third world country. I'm sure the Kemper clan can figure a way to finance their own legacies. They've already demonstrated as much.

He has bought a hotel so out of town business acquaintances can stay there as the meetings were there the whole time. He bought a moving company as they were moving floors all the time, etc etc. Pretty sure he has bought a government too.

When I used to travel, I was always telling people on the plane that "the main city in the metro is in Missouri."

Fun Fact -- People live happy lives for decades in the metro area and never set foot in Kansas City, Missouri.
