As always, we celebrate diversity in Kansas City and right now this image and message from Mayor Sly James seems important for Mexican Independence Day that's celebrated by more than a few longtime residents of this town.
Take a look:
A message from Kansas City Mayor Sly James: "During National Hispanic Heritage month, September 15, 2014 – October 15, 2014, we recognize the important contributions of Hispanic families living in the United States."

CHECK THE TKC TOP 5 WAYS KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY CAN HELP LOCAL LATINOS AND MAKE HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH EVEN BETTER!!!
Here's a quick list of helpful suggestions that will not only encourage a greater celebration of diversity in Kansas City but also contribute to better Mexican food in town and possibly raise the quotient of local hotties like Jessica Burciaga.
Here we go . . .
Hire Another Latino In His Office
Genaro is working in Parks and most informed denizens throughout the urban core are kinda miffed that the Mayor's office is packed with nearly all white professionals with Ivy League backgrounds and absolutely no community contacts.
Support A Hispanic For City Council . . . No, Theresa Garza Ruiz Doesn't Count
Plain and simple, TGR has residency problems and her connection to the Latino community in Sleaze Summit is tenuous at best. Meanwhile, the Mayor could help the local KC Hispanic community by using his overwhelming popularity to encourage more Latinos to run for office THIS ELECTION rather than next.
Encourage Diversity Within The Ranks Of City Hall And Local Government
Every demographic would benefit from Greater City Hall diversity . . . Not only Latinos but female dept. heads are sorely lacking @ 12th and Oak. A focus on City Hall hiring diversity is a longstanding need for local government.
Visit Northeast Kansas City More Often
The Mayor would find a warm welcome in Kansas City's fastest growing Latino enclave.
Complete Our "Sanctuary City" Designation
Already the Westside CAN Center has earned international recognition with its unique approach to community policing in Latino neighborhoods that doesn't crackdown on immigration but instead hopes to bolster community participation among residents.
As always, we admire the Mayor's hat and hope to see him do even more during Hispanic Heritage Month that would not only benefit Latinos but all of Kansas City.
Developing . . .
So, you finally have a new graphic for the Welcome to the west side photos. Good for you TKC.

"KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES CELEBRATES HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH IN AN EPIC SOMBRERO!!!" and looks like almost as big of a duche as his chief of staff in African attire.
ReplyDeleteUncle Sly in a sombrero. Ain't that special. He may be no Frito but that motherfucker is one bandito.
ReplyDeletewow, you people are really racist and awful.
ReplyDeleteThat is the dumbest looking person I have ever seen wearing a sombrero. I mean he looks fucking stupid in it. There are no bounds to how low this feral coon will stoop.
ReplyDeleteWe'll probably get to watch him dancing around the damned thing. Video at ten...
DeleteJust have his opponent use this picture along with images of him tap dancing for republicans, a toy train image showing it going to nowhere - hell, a rookie campaign consultant could just destroy him in the next election.
ReplyDeleteGet this idiot out of OUR city. Go away Sly James.
Or you could go away

ReplyDelete6:48---you have a grasp for the obvious.
ReplyDeleteyou couldn't get him to come to an American Indian Event or even acknowledge it, the hispanic chamber ie. Valerie Coyazo along with Michelle Word moved the Kansas City Black Expo from September to November 1st to protest American Indian Awareness Month that was marketed for the first and Valerie used her position and hosted it at KCP&L .
ReplyDeleteI simple couldnt care less at this point what that man does, absolutely NOTHING surprises me as to how low these people will sink to protect their version of Diversity. Shame on the Hispanic and Black community for what they did
El burrito niggerito

ReplyDeleteWho is this Sly James guy? I like the cut of his jib!
ReplyDeleteTony gets some wood seeing a non Hispanic in a Sombrero. Pathetic.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody find the sombrero wearing Mayor to be exhibiting racist behavior? I believe this is racist. Not funny or cute or amusing. Racist.
ReplyDeleteI think Sly doesn't give a damn what anyone thinks but his donors. That much is clear.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of an "Irish Jig" and I wondered if maybe this is a "Mexican Jig"?
