Take a look . . . I'm only about 5 minutes into this thing and already I've noticed Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo lying about 3 times . . . Also, I can see Patrick Ishmael's puppet strings and just wonder if it was Rex Or Crosby in charge of his opinion tonight.
Still, this is probably the last blast of real streetcar debate . . . After that it's all last minute bombshells and and desperate zero hour politicking . . .

ReplyDeleteMust happen to her a lot in court, which is why she has so much free time to fight to preserve her illegal squatting on the trolley track right of way.
Nothing is funnier than watching the show me shills promise they will suddenly be transit activists - WE SWEAR - if only they can defeat the biggest transit initiative in city history.

ReplyDeleteWith all the other serious issues in the region that KCMO could be playing a role in addressing, it's really a shame that all this time, effort, energy, and gobs of money have been spent fighting over something as irrelevant to most local residents as a 2.2 mile streetcar.
ReplyDeleteIt's no wonder the region lags so many others in economic vitality and so many aspects of the kinds of things that actually affect the kind of quality of life and really attracts people and companies.
Whatever happens on election day, this has been a big big loser for KCMO.
The Streetcar will not benefit the eastside. If 90% of the tax was coming from other areas, then why was all of the east side included in the taxing district???
ReplyDeleteBecause the majority of east side voter support transit improvements, and realize that trains are an important component of a good system.
DeleteUnfortunately for freedom, most of us can read a map, too, so we can see that most of the plan is to be built on the east side in te neighborhoods where people need better transit to get around.
Unfortunately for whatever white dude they trot out, we all know trains are better, faster, more reliable and can carry more people than buses, so all those "buses are good enough guys" don't really hold much water over here..

The whole debate was a joke Cindy kept talking in Circles and lying if I was on the line about voting for this she would make my mind up to a No. And wow has she aged.

Just building a World Of Toy Trains Park outside the city limits for the kidults would be a lot less expensive then bankrupting Jackson County.

ReplyDeleteThe feeder buses needed to bring riders to the trains;
The interest on the debt that rail transit agencies take on but bus agencies rarely have to;
The maintenance costs that mount up after about 30 years;
The subsidies to the development they all promise will happen after the rail line is built; and
The hardships caused by the slow growth that results when businesses are discouraged by the high tax rates required to support the rail lines and transit-oriented developments.

I haven't felt that way since I saw the Spring '12 Coach line with that crimson red Madison Maggie handbag. I got two of those, lol.

Personally I thought the debate didn't even get started before it was over. Devoting 15 minutes to a mess that is going to screw citizens for decades is sad, but a heck of a lot more than the cowards devoted at the local commercial stations.

I doubt if Cindy has read the ballot language for prop A. She seemed to be a little out of her element on TV. They should have looked at the other stuff she has done on TV. It is not her medium. She can't think fast enough and so relies on party gossip in a dumb blond voice.

ReplyDeleteBasically the streetcar asks you to reach into your kids pocket and take his money to pay for it because the tax is for 25 years and the operational cost will be on top of this. Vote NO on A and vote NO on 7.
