Here's a bit of Kansas City political advice that still holds merit . . .
DESPITE THE DECLINE OF NEWSPAPERS, KANSAS CITY POLITICOS STILL SHOULDN'T FIGHT A LOSING BATTLE AGAINST THE MEDIA!!!
Moreover . . .
KANSAS CITY COUNCIL DUDE RUSS JOHNSON RAGE AGAINST LOCAL MEDIA HAS PROVEN UNPRODUCTIVE AND HAS LED TO A NEGATIVE PUBLIC IMAGE FOR THIS DEVELOPMENT MINDED POLITICO!!!
Sure, he's termed out and not worried about reelection for the moment. But the fact is, right now he COULDN'T get elected to anything if he wanted to . . .
Even worse . . . Council Dude Russ has taken to bashing the mainstream media on Twitter.
In fact, Council Dude Russ has been misbehaving so badly that in an otherwise balanced article about recent streetcar developments, he was called out in an EPIC passage.
Money line buried far to deep in a recent Pitch article:
On the other side are people like Russ Johnson, a sitting council member who is defining his time in office by pushing the streetcar and airport projects. Publicly, he doesn't help either cause with his level of discourse. Johnson sees any streetcar dialogue that isn't 100-percent aligned with his views as an attack on his mandate as the chairman of the city's Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Johnson has spent time rooting through journalists' Twitter feeds, including mine, and has leveled absurd accusations of bias against journalists who follow opponents of his projects on the social-media platform.
Johnson also hasn't fared well in public appearances when quizzed about the streetcar's merits. He struggles to hide his disgust toward any commentary that doesn't square with his beliefs . . ."
#############
And here's the EXCLUSIVE TKC MARKET RESEARCH that shouldn't come as a surprise to politicos with more patience than Council Dude Russ.
Kansas City media people all talk to one another and beating up on a few of them is THE BEST WAY to make enemies of the entire local journalist pool.
Long story short . . . In general, Kansas City newsies don't like Russ Johnson and his rage against local journalists will only serve to hurt the chances of success for the toy train streetcar part deux.
Developing . . .
Maybe he needs dancing lessons from Sly?
ReplyDeleteBuy stock in Brinks. When they start moving that taxpayer money from 12th & Oak, Brinks stock will skyrocket.
ReplyDeleteThat's a long drive to the Cayman Islands and a BILLION dollars will be several loads.
He probably knows that if he doesn't deliver the streetcar and airport the job at B & M will not materialize.
ReplyDeleteIf we're successful in defeating the TDD in August, Russ Johnson's arrogance will have played a large role in that. By lashing out at the media for asking questions rather than accepting his simplistic talking points as impenetrable truth, he does more harm to his cause than good.
ReplyDeleteThey can't all be Kevin Collision, right, Russ? BTW, you owe that man a drink.
Russ Johnson is to the TDD as Todd Aiken was to the Republicans' 2012 attempt to gain control of the senate.
ReplyDeleteHey, hey R. J.
ReplyDeleteHow many voters you gonna piss off today?
Russ Johnson needs to grow up. If he has nothing to hide, he shouldn't have any problems with the media doing its job.
ReplyDeleteThat's a big "if," 9:34.
ReplyDeleteI saw on 41 News this morning there is a new app to help businesses going bankrupt along the toy train line.
ReplyDeleteThat'll fix everything!
Russ Johnson is just a toddler throwing a tantrum. I can't think of a worse councilperson, and when his stupid streetcar tax-thieving plan goes down in flames this August, maybe he will just GO AWAY.
ReplyDelete10:10, holy shit, you're right. @notrusskc tweeted a Clerks reference yesterday that I didn't understand; now it makes sense. ROFL.
ReplyDeleteSo the city can spend $ to create an app reminding people that businesses on the streetcar line are open, but they can't create an app the has GPS tracking on the buses and helps you map out your routes in real time, or find out when buses are running late/early? Apparently Google maps is good enough...
Just be aware if your driving on August 5 that Johnson could go into road rage mode again. Or if the media tries to interview him on why he thought he lost the TDD he might run away from them and maybe even fall down an elevator shaft trying to escape accountability.
ReplyDeleteLike who gives a shit what the KC, Mickey Mouse, self serving, media says? They have all the clout of Pee Wee Herman, except he usually gets his story straight!
ReplyDeleteThe most alarming thing about many KC council members is just how fucking smug they are about their bad decisions... as if they've convinced themselves they are the only adults in a room full of dullards despite a track record of FAILURE in virtually every area of city governance.
ReplyDeleteP & L, 18th and Vine... those two abortions alone would give a reasonable person a fair degree of humility ... but instead the result is a doubling down of condescension and feigned-superiority ...as if admission of any prior poor decision making would cause their whole charade to collapse.
Johnson is simply a douche nozzle and that's about it...
ReplyDelete"Like who gives a shit what the KC, Mickey Mouse, self serving, media says? They have all the clout of Pee Wee Herman, except he usually gets his story straight!"
ReplyDeleteLooks like Mensa boy gives a shit, given that he trolls Twitter, TKC, etc. and always has a pithy, meaningless, or false reply.
Hey, hey, hey, RJ
ReplyDeleteHow many media folks you gonna piss off today?
MAJOR kudos to Steve Vockrodt at The Pitch for daring to write truthfully about the PITIFUL BEHAVIOR of Councilman Russ Johnson.
ReplyDeleteVockrodt ROCKS!!!!!
Russ Johnson was recently described to me as someone who thinks the City can spend their way into prosperity. He is immature and lacks ethics.
ReplyDeleteThat's "far 'TOO' deep. Proofread, much? English, much?
ReplyDeleteRuss is another deeply-troubled skinhead.
ReplyDelete12:59 Why would Tony need to proofread when he's got sanctimonious pricks like yourself doing the job for free?
ReplyDeleteJesus, I can almost hear the fucking doltish upspeak in your pre-teen "much?" schtick.
We are talking here about BULLY BOY JOHNZON. He is rewarded for bull.
ReplyDeleteIs there anyone more self absorbed and self righteous than a so called journalist? The second someone of influence calls them out they start crying. When did KCBJ become a tabloid?
ReplyDeleteOoooooh! Mensa boy's getting a tad techy at 1:15! One more outburst like that and he may lose a few more follicles.
ReplyDeleteAnd again at 1:56. Evidently Mensa boy cares a lot about "what the KC, Mickey Mouse, self serving, media says."
ReplyDeleteAnd oh, my. Look who's calling whom sanctimonious and self-righteous.
RJ acts like a toddler with a credit card. The taxpayer's credit card.
ReplyDelete"The second someone of influence calls them out they start crying."
ReplyDelete"Someone of influence?" And who might that be? And how are things on the planet he has influence on?
It's difficult to parody someone who is a self-parody. But I'll keep trying.
All of this makes you wonder how much money RJ, Sly and the rest of the council has pocketed to cram the new airport and the toy train down our throats.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see him and the rest of the city council, along with Sly in federal prison.
Let's get it done.
Do the people of the northland realize their councilman is only interested in downtown interests, not theirs? Even though Russ is term limited, can their be a recall election now?
ReplyDeleteGee Russ sure has a bee in his bonnet today. Things not go so well in Las Vegas?
ReplyDeleteAt least you finally got someone to touch your penis.
Trying to figure which KCMO council member is the biggest douche is like trying to find the dog with the best breath. RJ is a douche deluxe and someday he will realize it.
ReplyDelete"At least you finally got someone to touch your penis."
ReplyDeleteMaybe he didn't, and that's what's making him so touchy.
Now we know who Jack Stack named their Poor Russ sandwich after.
ReplyDeleteBtw, it's kinda small, like Russ' peepee. Get the Martin City Mayor instead, which is today's special.
Ruzz J-zen sez: Tony...suck my dick.
ReplyDeleteRuss is a douce,
ReplyDeleteStreetcar with expansion is still the best idea KC has had in 100 years.
Don't kill the messenger. You city haters are short sighted. Transit = infrastructure, and its one of the few peices of infrastructure this town obviously and clearly lags behind in.
Build it or become Sedalia.
Sorry, kiddos, That's the reality of the situation. You guys are like the people hollering for StL not to uild railroad infrastructure in the 1800's, saying shit like "Don't worry, we got this river and people will always use that? Who give a fuck what little podunk Chicago does?"
"Build it or become Sedalia."
ReplyDeleteThat's a false choice. We have buses that do exactly the same thing the proposed streetcar will do--transport people, and they do it better and cheaper. The river/railroad analogy does not hold.
But agree that Russ is a douche.
