TKC Civil Rights Moment: Even White People Think Kansas City Is Still Racist

Here's a quick roundup of Kansas City civil rights discourse that's far more "civil" than what we've talked about on this blog . . .

KCUR: Kansas Citians: 50 Years After The Civil Rights Act, We Still Have A Long Road

Many believe that marriage equality is the new frontier of civil rights which makes a great many people of color angry in turn. Likewise, I think we can all agree that we've made progress inasmuch as lots of white dudes complain a lot more about racism than ever before . . . Long story short, the topic of race and equality and still strong points of contention for locals. This fact might be an overall sign of progress . . . You decide . . .

  6. You can take this any way you want, but if you’re completely honest with yourself, after 50 years and billions of dollars, are the negroes really better off than they were? IMO, not that much. Sure, there are no longer segregated lunch counters and bus depots, but the majority still live in poverty despite having been given every sort of opportunity for education and career advancement, mostly funded by John and Jane Taxpayer. But how many have used those programs to improve themselves and their families? Instead, it’s all about how to work the system and defraud welfare, food stamps and a myriad of other types of public assistance, not to mention rampant crime of every sort. Thugs with their pants hanging down to their knees, twentysomethings living on the public dole with half a dozen offspring by as many “baby daddy.” Even if “baby daddy” is known, he’s either in jail, dead or at the very least, out of the picture. No amount of special programs, organizations and activities are ever enough to turn their messed up world around, yet those who have tired of the white guilt trip are labeled racist because they shrug off the latest shooting or carjacking on the east side. It would seem that 50 years is a long time to throw money and effort into something that produces little, if any, positive return on the investment. Can you imagine a business losing more and more money year after year being kept open for 50 years? The same is true with the blacks; it’s time to let them figure things out for themselves without the taxpaying public taking care of every obstacle for them. If they haven’t been able to figure things out in 50 years, they never will.

  9. REPEAL ALL CIVIL RIGHTS LAWS NOW.

The sell by date on this legislation is long past.

We are 50 years and 2 to 3 generations into a movement based on what we must as reasonable people, imagine are transgenerational unrightable wrongs that no know scenesence. Middle class, economic arms and legs, ripped from their bodies, are no more than floatation devices for the Grievance Industry’s rogues and mountbanks who have no need to swim. Those now heuristically aware of reality who speak against the message, or the “Narrative” are guilty of apostacy and treated in accord with their ignominious status. Deception is part and parcel of the “Narrative” which, in the face of the unambiguated failure of MLK’s message at this late date, drives us further and further down the river towards the noise of a waterfall. We deceive ourselves at the metion of a low level infatada of black on white crime. We deceive ourselves to the disticnt lack of acceleration in the African American community in spite of trillions of dollars spent to “Even the Playing Field.” We deceive ourselves and pretend that African Americans are not teathered to mediocrity by Affirmative Action legislation, that, after 50 years dilineates by it’s very existance the presupposition of inferiority. Our preconceived affectation to a commitment based on a “Marching with Martin” trope, romanticized through the years, the decades has left African Americans stranded on that flotation device with the rest of us, unable to stop the self deception as we get closer to the falls.

  10. "The Civil Rights Act of 1964 gave the federal government unprecedented power over the hiring, employee relations, and customer service practices of every business in the country. The result was a massive violation of the rights of private property and contract, which are the bedrocks of free society. The federal government has no legitimate authority to infringe on the rights of private property owners to use their property as they please and to form (or not form) contracts with terms mutually agreeable to all parties. The rights of all private property owners, even those whose actions decent people find abhorrent, must be respected if we are to maintain a free society.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 not only violated the Constitution and reduced individual liberty; it also failed to achieve its stated goals of promoting racial harmony and a color-blind society. Federal bureaucrats and judges cannot read minds to see if actions are motivated by racism. Therefore, the only way the federal government could ensure an employer was not violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was to ensure that the racial composition of a business’s workforce matched the racial composition of a bureaucrat or judge’s defined body of potential employees. Thus, bureaucrats began forcing employers to hire by racial quota. Racial quotas have not contributed to racial harmony or advanced the goal of a color-blind society. Instead, these quotas encouraged racial balkanization, and fostered racial strife.

  12. Virtually all decisions to hire, fire, promote or punish employees, to oversee the sale and rental of housing, to ensure that all minorities have access to all restaurants, hotels and motels, are under the jurisdiction of these minions who are right out of Orwell’s “1984.”

Scores of thousands of bureaucrats – academic, corporate, government – are on watch, overseeing our economy, patrolling our society, monitoring our behavior.

A radical idea: Suppose we repealed the civil rights laws and fired all the bureaucrats enforcing these laws.

Does anyone think hotels, motels and restaurants across Dixie, from D.C. to Texas, would stop serving black customers? Does anyone think there would again be signs sprouting up reading “whites” and “colored” on drinking foundations and restrooms?

Does anyone think restrictive covenants against Jews would be rewritten into contracts on houses? Does anything think that bars and hotels would stop serving blacks and Hispanics?

In his indictment of George III, Jefferson wrote of the king: “He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”

Is that not what we have today in spades?

Why do we need this vast army of bureaucrats?

They exist to validate the slander that America is a racist, sexist, homophobic and xenophobic country which would revert to massive discrimination were it not for heroic progressives standing guard.

And, indeed, some bigots might revert to type. But so what?

Cannot a free people deal with social misconduct with social sanctions?

And isn’t this what freedom is all about? The freedom of others to say things we disagree with, to publish ideas we disbelieve in, even to engage in behavior we dislike?

As for the Christians of Arizona and same-sex unions in Arizona, if they don’t like each other, can they not just avoid each other? After all, it’s a big state.

Why will we not see the lapsing or repeal of civil rights laws whose work is done? That would mean cracking the rice bowls of hundreds of thousands of diversicrats who would then have to apply for jobs from folks they have spent their lives harassing.

Last year, the Supreme Court struck down the pre-clearance provision of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Yet, somehow, Mississippi still has more black elected officials than any other state.

If the conditions that called for the laws of the 1960s have ceased to exist, why do those laws still exist?

  18. 4:47, How can you be so successful, and yet still be unable to draft a grammatically coherent paragraph? I don't care what you drive, where you shop, or if you have a white mammy and butler; your lack of command of the English language speaks volumes.

  19. @ 4:47 you are full of shit. You drive a fucking Impala with odd size tires, live on welfare, eat bananas 7 days a week, swing from tree to tree, and sleep hanging from a street light by your tail.

You are a fucking monkey at best. Like the Bear gives a fuck what you post. And that fat white bitch your married to...she is a real keeper. That vote for Obama...that's the only reason your posting here on your Obama tablet, and the money you put in the bank, that comes from people who actually work. Something you and your kind know nothing about.

As for the suburbs. Grandview is sure a fine destination.

You are nothing more than "hoodisrattis" on welfare. Now shut the fuck up and bring that fat cunt woman of yours a chili dog and a cup of Kool Aid.

Because he, like most blacks, are promoted beyond their station and capabilities by the color of their skin, not their accomplishments on the job.

  27. Who cares? White people are racist. Black people are equally, if not more racist. Old people won't change. They only die.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I was never subject to more racism than when I moved to Kansas City. The stares, scowels and outright hostility from people. I've had people slam a door right in my face because the color of my skin. I've been treated like shit because of my race. I've had my food spit in, been forced to wait at the back of the store because of my skin color.

I've been passed over for jobs that I know I am qualified for because I wasn't the "right" color. I have to listen to people at the office make racial jokes but if I was to make the same joke, I'd be fired.

This is what it means to be White in Kansas City. I am white, and I have been targeted, slurred, and threatened simply because I am white.

  29. Civil Rights Laws are racist.

Only in America ... could people claim that the government
still discriminates against black Americans when
they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20% of the federal workforce is black while only 14% of the population is black.

    40% of all federal
entitlements goes to black Americans – 3X the rate that go to whites, 5X the rate that go to Hispanics!

  30. Kansas City is racist. Blacks racist against whitey.

  31. Ever notice how all the right-wingers always say every damn law they don't like is a violation of the constitution? They say it so often that it has become meaningless.

So what is constitutional? Subservient blacks? Barefoot and pregnant women who can't vote? Euthanizing all non-Christians, liberals and Democrats? Making every citizen tote a loaded gun? Nuking every country that crosses us? Prosecuting people for being gay?

Sounds like the America these clowns hope for is some half-assed combination of apartheid South Africa and Nazi Germany .... with a southern accent.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 10:25 many think South Africa and Nazi Germany apartheid sounds real good. Bring back slavery. Put the black fucks to work. I know work is totally foreign to the hood rat but it's a good start.
