THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR CRITICS CALL OUT TDD TAXES TONIGHT!!!
Tonight we consider KANSAS CITY STREETCAR TAX DISPARITY which is a longstanding issue that confronts the TDD and threatens to throw the project off-track.
To wit . . .
KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN CRITICS ARE CALLING OUT TAX DISPARITY BETWIXT BIG BIZ WITH POLITICAL TIES VS. SMALL BIZ AND RESIDENTS PAYING MORE TO FUND THE STREETCAR!!!
Here's just one example of the tax argument now in play . . .
"Polsinelli's Plaza Vista building will pay $81 a year with the proposed TDD special assessment . . . The city did entered into a contract with Polsinelli for TDD and streetcar related consulting during Dec 2013. - Ordinance #130944 "Waiving a requirement of Section 2-83(a), Code of Ordinances, and authorizing the City Attorney to execute a contract with Polsinelli PC, for the provision of legal services in connection with the creation of one or more Transportation Development Districts; and recognizing an emergency.
"Considering the commercial building at 4600 Madison two blocks north will be on the hook for $26,000 in special assessments it has to make one wonder. Single family residences will also pay more then Plaza Vista. Here is the proof:"
Translation . . .
TOY TRAIN CRITICS CLAIM CONNECTED KANSAS CITY CORPORATE INTERESTS AREN'T GOING TO PAY MUCH FOR THE STREETCAR WHIST RESIDENTS AND SMALL BIZ WILL CARRY MOST OF THE BURDEN!!!
That's the argument going before voters while the other side has been rather subdued as of late and still seems to be promising big eco-devo rewards without many specifics.
And all of this has inspired tonight's playlist . . .
As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night . . .
And people wonder while we are losing so many small businesses to Overland Park.
ReplyDeleteSherry DeJanes for Mayor
ReplyDeleteShe can mop the floor with these current clowns in charge and put KCMO on a fair and equitable as well as progressive fiscal path.
If this doesn't wake voters up nothing will. I think it has with this battle going on for most of the first half of 2014.
ReplyDeleteThere ya go voters. Wake up time. Vote NO and end it.
ReplyDeleteHolly Crap! This is criminal!!
ReplyDeleteYou ought to see some of the property tax deals many downtown streetcar disciples trying to railroad this scam over the public are getting downtown. It would probably cause a taxpayer revolt.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great plan guys!
ReplyDeleteI could totally keep my dream of not owning a car alive with the progress you're making!!
When I tell my new friends what amazing things KC is doing they're all like, "right on" and stuff!
$81.41
ReplyDeleteHello?
Maybe Glorioso and his front organization Connect KC can explain this one?
ReplyDeleteSomething more convincing then cave people are trying to take away your patriotic right to vote?
The information contained in the above posting could effectively be used by ToyTrain opponents in their advertising to DERAIL the upcoming tax votes, and put the BRAKES on any further tax monies for the ToyTrain.
ReplyDeleteBest of Luck to the opponents.
Yeah, screw that business for being successful, employing so many people and paying millions in taxes each year! They must pay a larger portion of the assessment for being so damn profitable! Those small businesses contribute so much less each year, and should not have to contribute the the increase in business this stupid streetcar will provide their business!!! I hate progress so much!!! We have got to continue to prevent Kansas City from growing as a city!!!
ReplyDeleteGet it together you fucking idiots...
PLAYLIST:
ReplyDeleteWinner = Inner City Blues by Marvin Gaye (not that there's anything wrong with that!)
p.s. earlier today my shapely neighbor lady was washing her car in her bikini and I was needing some sexual healing!
Well played, Sir.
ReplyDeleteThey should have just torn down West Edge and turned it into a green space called Taxpayer Survivors Park.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes you think street car supporters will honor the pledge to only assess a .25 cent sales tax if the modot tax passes? Why wouldn't they jack it up to the full 1 cent to do more?
ReplyDeleteStop the train, save KC
ReplyDeleteThe streetcar assessment on my downtown small business property is $465 a year. How the hell does Polsinelli get away with only $81? Even if a building has other tax abatements there is not supposed to be one for the streetcar. Even nonprofits, churches and schools will pay more than this.
ReplyDeleteThis "deal" made by Polsinelli needs to be exposed in all the media outlets in town.Lyne Horsley, are you reading this?
Don't forget the 202 million dollar TIF they got in the spring of 2012. Oh, and Jan Marcanson is the Chair of the Finance and the x wife of the CEO of Postenelli.
ReplyDeleteIt's very simple, 10:11. As Leona Helmsley once said, "Only the little people pay taxes."
ReplyDelete8:33
ReplyDeletePlease put your hands where we can see them (instead of in our pockets) and step away from the Koolaid.
Endlessly repeating the "fixed guideway system" mantra still doesn't make it true.
The streetcar project lost any credibility and fiscal responsibility a long time ago and has become a feeding frenzy of special interests.
Sly and the gang just can't say NO.
Has it occurred to anyone that Mensa boy (8:33) is living in an alternative universe. He defends the indefensible so vigorously. Of course most of us in this universe won't be out of a job and probably unemployable (especially given his much-publicized temper) come 2015.
ReplyDeleteyou guys are real dumb
ReplyDeleteWhere do you go to buy a pitchfork?
